The Iranian youth have attacked several bases of the terrorist designated Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Basij forces in Khorramabad, Shiraz, Mashhad, Najafabad, Kazeroun, and a Karaj-based centre promoting fundamentalism in recent days.
Whilst in Robatkarim and Eslamshahr, they burned posters of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and the deceased commander of the IRGC Quds Force Qassem Soleimani, who was killed in a US drone strike on Iraq in January.
These activities show the anger of the Iranian people toward the regime and especially the Basij, which are the most-hated Iranian suppressive paramilitary force with the main task of cracking down on protests and demonstrations, like the November 2019 nationwide uprising. They also show how ready the Iranian people are to overthrow the regime and bring about democracy.
Over the past few months, many Iranian officials have warned that the country is in an explosive state, with the people ready and willing to overthrow the regime.
On September 25, during Friday prayers, many of Khamenei’s representatives expressed their fears over growing support for the opposition, Mujahedin-e Khalq or MEK. Mohammad Ebadizadeh, Friday prayer imam of Bandar Abbas, said that the regime was facing a conspiracy against them, saying that it started with the “no to executions” hashtag and moved onto the hijab issue, which he said was essentially a war on small subjects that many young people have got involved in.
These comments refer to the MEK’s online campaigns against executions and the spread of MEK messaging in the country through the Resistance Units.
The Resistance Units are expanding their activities across the country, taking action in Tehran, Isfahan, Shiraz, Rasht, Mashhad, Hamadan, Arak, Kermanshah, Nishapur, Qazvin, and Sanandaj recently. They put up signs and graffiti of anti-regime slogans and messages from Resistance leaders Massoud and Maryam Rajavi, while also paying tribute to wrestling champion and protester Navid Afkari, who was executed on September 12.
They also remembered the MEK’s historic protests in Tehran on September 27, 1981, where young students chanted ‘down with [regime founder Ruhollah] Khomeini’ for the first time and suppressive forces shot dead over 1,100 students and teenagers for protesting in Tehran.
The Resistance Units slogans included:

- “Since 1981 until today the revolt for freedom continues”
- “Long live freedom”
- “The only solution to prevent executions is to revolt and protest”
- “Rise up to avenge Navid’s execution”
- “Down with Khamenei, hail to Rajavi”
