September 8-9, 2023—As the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) marked the 58th anniversary of its founding on Wednesday, September 6, Resistance Units, the network of PMOI activists inside Iran, celebrated the event with their activities across the country.
In Tehran and many cities across Iran, members of the Resistance Units recorded videos of themselves holding banners with the emblem of the PMOI and the images of PMOI founders.
Resistance Units also install emblem of People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran in public places.
A team of Resistance Units in Tabriz, Northwest Iran, filmed the district where Mohammad Hanif Nejad, the MEK founder, lived.
MEK Resistance Units held inspiring messages alongside MEK emblems or images of Iranian Resistance President-elect Maryam Rajavi and Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi.
Resistance Units are increasing their activities, while Iran’s regime is resorting to different tactics to cause public fear and prevent protests on the anniversary of the 2022 nationwide uprising. The Resistance Units are keeping the flame of rebellion alit and countering the regime’s apparatus of repression.
They have been a driving force for the nationwide uprisings against the regime’s brutal suppression.
They are carrying out activities at great risks to their lives and safety since the regime has been especially harsh against any support for or relation to the PMOI. Regime officials have recently described the PMOI as their main problem.
The regime’s tactics include intensifying pressure on political prisoners accused of supporting the PMOI.
Notably, the regime’s history is marred by the execution of tens of thousands of MEK members and supporters.
These actions aim to deter youth from joining the organized resistance movement advocating for regime change for over four decades. Nevertheless, the activities of the Resistance Units reveal the regime’s failure to suppress the spirit of resistance in Iran.
