On the occasion of the 58th anniversary of its founding, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) witnessed the nationwide celebration of this milestone by its dedicated network of activists known as the Resistance Units, operating within Iran.
A member of the Resistance Units in Rasht expressed, “For over 58 years, the PMOI has steadfastly fought against the oppressive regimes of the mullahs and the shah, and we remain committed to this struggle until the overthrow of the current regime. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Massoud Rajavi, Maryam Rajavi, and the people of Iran on the PMOI’s founding anniversary.”
In Tehran, members of the Resistance Units captured videos of themselves proudly displaying PMOI emblems and images of the organization’s founders.
One of the Resistance Unit members in Tehran emphasized, “The PMOI represents the hope for a brighter future in Iran. It is an organization wholly dedicated to the freedom of our nation and serves as the vanguard in our quest for liberty. The founding anniversary of the PMOI is a day of great pride for all Iranians, especially us, the members of the Resistance Units.”
Across cities such as Karaj, Mashhad, Shiraz, Isfahan, Zanjan, Sanandaj, Ilam, Zahedan, Sari, Kashan, Qom, Ahvaz, Gorgan, Kerman, and Tabriz, Resistance Units recorded videos demonstrating their support for the PMOI’s founding anniversary. They proudly displayed PMOI banners and photographs of Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi and the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), Maryam Rajavi.
In Shush, a member of the Resistance Unit conveyed their congratulations for the PMOI’s founding, stating, “Please remember my name; I stand as a representative of the PMOI. Down with the dictator, whether it be the shah or the mullahs.”
In Karaj, another member of the Resistance Unit proclaimed, “We are determined to liberate this land from the tyranny of the mullahs’ rule.”
In Tabriz, a Resistance Unit member recorded a video from the very street where PMOI founder Mohammad Hanifnejad was born. They remarked, “This street witnessed the birth of Mohammad Hanifnejad, one of the most prominent figures of the past century. In 1965, he founded the PMOI, which has since valiantly battled against the shah and the mullahs’ oppressive rule for 58 years.”
Despite the Iranian regime’s attempts to sow fear and suppress public dissent during the anniversary of the 2022 nationwide uprising, the activities of the Resistance Units continue to blaze the path of rebellion and challenge the regime’s oppressive machinery.
The Resistance Units remain a formidable driving force behind nationwide uprisings against the regime’s brutal suppression, carrying out their activities at great personal risk. The regime’s intensified crackdown on those supporting or associating with the PMOI includes heightened pressure on political prisoners charged with PMOI ties.
Simultaneously, the regime propagates a stream of false information regarding the status of PMOI members abroad, with its judiciary even ordering the prosecution of 104 MEK members. The regime, notorious for executing thousands of MEK members and supporters throughout its history, seeks to deter Iranian youth from joining the organized resistance movement advocating for regime change, but the unwavering activities of the Resistance Units attest to the regime’s failure in quashing the spirit of resistance in Iran.
