Resistance Units in Zahedan honor Operation Eternal Light with banners and resistance messages across the city.
Resistance Units in Zahedan honor Operation Eternal Light with banners and resistance messages across the city.

Coinciding with the anniversary of Operation Eternal Light (Forough Javidan), Resistance Units in Zahedan commemorated the historic ideological and patriotic epic by widely displaying and posting slogans and messages of the Iranian Resistance across the city.

On the occasion of the anniversary of Operation Eternal Light, rebellious youth in Zahedan put up a broad collection of banners, posters, and slogans highlighting this historic operation. The activities featured quotations from Massoud Rajavi and Maryam Rajavi, accounts of Operation Eternal Light, and general messages supporting freedom and the Iranian people’s resistance.

Messages from Massoud Rajavi included:

  • “Operation Eternal Light is an unforgettable epic in the history of the Iranian people’s liberation struggle, proving the existence of a democratic and independent alternative carried forward by the enduring legacy of Eternal Light and the courageous sons and daughters of Iran.”
  • “When Khomeini’s tyranny was at its height and no one dared stand against war and repression, we, together with the generation of self-sacrificing heroes, turned a new page in the history of our people and homeland and rewrote it with our blood.”
  • “The PMOI and the Iranian Resistance seek peace and freedom, a commitment they have demonstrated through 61 years of sacrifice and the flowing river of their martyrs’ blood.”
  • “Under the banner of ‘Neither Shah nor Sheikh,’ we must raise the cry of freedom, take up the struggle, and stand in resistance.”
  • “On July 28–29, 2009, Ashraf stood firm with its martyrs, and step by step, the world stood alongside Ashraf against Khamenei and his agents in Iraq.”
  • “Ashraf’s steadfastness—with its fighters, martyrs, and hostages in successive battles against the regime and its mercenaries—reflects the iron resolve and unwavering faith of the PMOI.”

Messages from Maryam Rajavi included:

  • “Today, Eternal Light lives on through the Resistance Units across Iran.”
  • “A society that has awakened will never retreat because its young people are being killed by the regime’s criminal Revolutionary Guards.”
  • “The solution for Iran’s future is the establishment of a democratic republic.”
  • “Peace is the regime’s noose. Whenever forced to choose, it prefers war a hundred times over peace.”
  • “The regime has survived only by massacring a dissatisfied population and opening the door to foreign wars, but it cannot endure.”
  • “The heroes, martyrs, and hostages of Ashraf, through their immense suffering on July 28–29, 2009, April 8, 2011, and September 1, 2013, have left an everlasting legacy in Iran’s contemporary history.”

Operation Eternal Light – An Ideological and Patriotic Epic

The Resistance Units also displayed messages highlighting the history and significance of Operation Eternal Light, including:

  • “Operation Eternal Light was the National Liberation Army of Iran’s greatest ideological and patriotic epic.”
  • “In less than twelve hours, the National Liberation Army reached the gates of Kermanshah, creating a remarkable chapter in Iran’s history.”
  • “During one week of fighting in Operation Eternal Light for Iran’s freedom, the PMOI sacrificed more than 1,300 martyrs and suffered over 1,000 wounded.”
  • “Commander Sara (PMOI member Tahereh Tolou), hanged upside down from a tree with a dagger driven into her heart by Khomeini’s Revolutionary Guards in Chaharzebar, remains a symbol of Operation Eternal Light.”
  • “On July 19, 1988, one day after accepting the ceasefire and UN Resolution 598, Khomeini ordered the massacre of all steadfast PMOI members.”
  • “On August 5, 1988, Mousavi Ardebili, then head of Khomeini’s judiciary, declared: ‘A Mojahed no longer faces trial. His sentence is already known, and all must be executed.’”
  • “In addition to the IRGC, Basij, and the regular army, Khomeini mobilized another 200,000 forces, suffering approximately 17,000 killed and 35,000 wounded.”
  • “Through one hundred military operations by the National Liberation Army, culminating in the liberation of Mehran, the PMOI forced Khomeini to accept the ceasefire in the eight-year anti-national war.”
  • “On July 25, 1988, the PMOI launched Operation Eternal Light from Ashraf Base near Iran’s border, committing all their strength to the offensive.”
  • “During the week-long battle for Iran’s freedom, the PMOI offered more than 1,300 martyrs and over 1,000 wounded.”

Slogans Calling for the Overthrow of the Clerical Regime and Rejecting Both Monarchical and Religious Dictatorship

Among the slogans displayed across Zahedan were:

  • “From Zahedan to Tehran, death to the oppressor—be it the Shah or the Supreme Leader.”
  • “Dictatorship is dictatorship, whether under a turban or a crown.”
  • “Monarchy or Velayat-e Faqih—one hundred years of crimes.”
  • “Neither monarchy nor supreme leadership—freedom and equality.”
