Honoring the Martyrs of the 2022 Uprising
A central theme of the nationwide campaign was remembrance of the victims of the 2022 uprising, during which hundreds of protesters lost their lives while confronting the regime’s repressive forces. Resistance Units paid tribute to the martyrs whose sacrifice continues to inspire the Iranian people in their pursuit of freedom and democracy.
In Karaj, activists held a memorial ceremony honoring Mehdi Khanaki and renewed their pledge to continue the struggle for freedom. Other activities across the country highlighted the memory of the uprising’s martyrs and emphasized that their legacy remains a driving force behind the Iranian people’s demand for regime change.
Challenging the Regime’s Climate of Fear
The campaign unfolded while the regime maintained heightened security readiness ahead of the uprising anniversary. Nevertheless, Resistance Units successfully carried out simultaneous activities across numerous provinces, demonstrating the persistence of organized opposition despite surveillance, arrests, and intimidation.
In several cities, Resistance Units projected and displayed slogans emphasizing rejection of all forms of dictatorship. Messages such as “Down with the oppressor, be it the Shah or the Supreme Leader” and “No to the bloodthirsty Shah and mullahs” underscored the movement’s commitment to a democratic republic based on popular sovereignty.
Other slogans highlighted the necessity of overthrowing the clerical dictatorship and expressed support for the democratic alternative advocated by the Iranian Resistance.
Keeping the Flame of the Uprising Alive
Four years after the nationwide uprising shook the foundations of the ruling system, the anniversary once again revealed the regime’s enduring concerns over organized resistance and social unrest. Through coordinated activities across the country, Resistance Units transformed the occasion into a renewed expression of defiance and determination.
By honoring the martyrs of the 2022 uprising, supporting political prisoners, opposing executions, and carrying the message of democratic change into public spaces, the Resistance Units demonstrated that the spirit of the uprising remains alive. Their actions reaffirmed the continued resolve of Iran’s organized Resistance to pursue freedom, justice, and a democratic republic for Iran.
