The year 2024 stood as a pivotal chapter in the global campaign for a free and democratic Iran. The Iranian Resistance, led by Maryam Rajavi, spearheaded an unrelenting wave of activism that rippled across continents. From parliamentary halls in Europe to the streets of major global cities, the movement embodied the collective yearning for justice and liberty.
In January, the resistance launched its efforts with the 28th telethon by Simay-e Azadi, rallying $7.05 million in international support. Maryam Rajavi’s address to French MPs on January 30 set the tone for a year that would highlight her Ten-Point Plan as a beacon for a future democratic Iran. Throughout the year, political endorsements poured in, with legislative actions across Europe and North America amplifying calls for the IRGC’s designation as a terrorist organization and heightened sanctions on Tehran.
The global solidarity deepened in February and March, as conferences commemorated the 1979 Revolution and International Women’s Day, celebrating the pivotal role of women in the resistance. By June, the Free Iran 2024 Summit had captured the imagination of supporters worldwide, with over 20,000 video messages of solidarity from within Iran, underscoring the growing reach of the movement despite brutal crackdowns.
July brought a powerful revelation from UN Special Rapporteur Javaid Rehman, who characterized the 1988 mass executions in Iran as crimes against humanity and genocide. This momentum carried through the summer into international conferences in August, marking the anniversary of the massacre and demanding accountability.
Autumn witnessed a crescendo of rallies and conferences in Berlin, Paris, New York, and Strasbourg, each echoing the call for a democratic alternative to Iran’s oppressive regime. In December, the NCRI revealed Tehran’s covert nuclear ambitions, further strengthening the urgency for international action.
Throughout the year, Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan remained central to the vision for a democratic Iran. Supported by thousands of lawmakers, human rights advocates, and global citizens, the plan offered a clear path to a secular, non-nuclear, and gender-equal Iran.
As 2024 concluded, the unwavering courage and resilience of the Iranian Resistance illuminated a hopeful path forward, showing that through unity and determination, the dream of a free Iran can become a reality.
