Heidelberg, Leipzig, Munich, Rostock — April 26, 2025 — Coordinated rallies across four major German cities brought renewed attention to Iran’s intensifying human rights violations, with a particular focus on the imminent execution of two political prisoners.
Supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) organized the events to highlight the cases of Behrouz Ehsani and Mehdi Hassani—both of whom are reportedly at serious risk of execution by the Iranian regime. The demonstrations in Heidelberg, Leipzig, Munich, and Rostock were part of a broader effort to draw international attention to Iran’s use of capital punishment to suppress dissent.
According to Iran Human Rights Monitor (Iran HRM), the request for a judicial review (appeal for retrial) for political prisoner Behrouz Ehsani has been officially rejected. This decision follows the earlier rejection of a similar appeal by Mehdi Hassani. With these denials, both men now face immediate danger of execution.
