Maryam Rajavi, NCRI President-elect Addresses Italian Parliament on Iran’s Human Rights Issues

On September 25, 2024, Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), delivered an online address to a conference held at the Italian Parliament, focusing on the “No to Executions” campaign aimed at ending the impunity of the Iranian regime.

In her speech, Mrs. Rajavi emphasized that the clerical regime in Iran maintains its power through daily executions and called on Italian parliamentarians to support the Iranian people’s struggle for freedom and democracy. She also urged the international community to condition their relations with the Iranian regime on ending torture and executions.

The conference was attended by members of both the Italian Parliament and Senate, providing a platform for discussing human rights issues in Iran and ways to support the Iranian resistance movement.

Mrs. Rajavi outlined several calls to action, including urging governments to condition their relations with Iran on human rights improvements, calling for accountability for Iranian leaders responsible for human rights violations, and requesting UN-led inspections of Iranian prisons. These proposals aimed to address ongoing human rights concerns in Iran and support the struggle for freedom and democracy.
