Freedom-loving Iranians in Italy Gather to Support “No to Executions, Yes to a Democratic Republic”
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), sent a message to the gathering of Free Iranians in Italy under the title “No to Executions, Yes to a Democratic Republic.”
Addressing Iranian compatriots and supporters of the Iranian Resistance, she saluted those who continue their efforts for the freedom of Iran and those who have risen to defend what she described as the national demarcation of the Iranian people against all forms of dictatorship and dependency.
In her message, Maryam Rajavi referred to a previous message by Massoud Rajavi, stating that proving the viability of an independent and democratic alternative rests on the shoulders of Iran’s brave sons and daughters, whose determination has raised the banner of the provisional government announced by the National Council of Resistance.
Today, the remnants of the regime live in a nightmare of impending uprisings. They tremble at the consequences of the mass slaughter during the January uprising—and indeed, of the 48 years of suppression, massacre, and the simmering rage of a deeply dissatisfied society. “The Regime’s Strategy Has Been Shattered”
Maryam Rajavi stated that the ruling establishment in Iran faces the consequences of years of suppression, massacres, and accumulated public anger. She said that these developments have awakened a new generation and driven young Iranians to confront the ruling system.
She described the regime as being trapped by the consequences of its own policies and stated that its ideological foundations and internal unity have been weakened. She also referred to divisions within ruling institutions, including the Assembly of Experts, the Parliament, state institutions, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
She further stated that neither appeasement of the Iranian regime nor war and air-based regime change could provide a solution, emphasizing instead the role of the Iranian people and organized resistance.
“The Solution Lies in the Iranian People’s Organized Uprising”
Maryam Rajavi stated that the solution lies in the overthrow of the ruling system by the Iranian people through organized uprising, Resistance Units, and the Liberation Army.
She also referred to the designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization by the British government, describing it as a long-overdue obligation by Western governments. She expressed hope that this would lead to greater international action regarding executions of political prisoners and recognition of the struggle of the Iranian people and Resistance Units.
“You Are the Backbone of the Resistance”
Addressing supporters of the Resistance, Maryam Rajavi stated that they hold the key to overcoming the current deadlock and are advancing the struggle for freedom. She referred to previous gatherings of supporters and said that they had demonstrated determination to overcome obstacles and continue the movement for democracy.
She stated that representatives in Italy’s Senate and Parliament stand alongside the Iranian people and the Resistance movement, supporting the provisional government and the resistance movement.
She described supporters of the Resistance as defenders of prisoners and victims of executions, and as a force connected with the Resistance Units, the Liberation Army, and PMOI freedom fighters.
“Open More Fronts for Freedom and Democracy”
Maryam Rajavi called on supporters to continue their activities and support the Resistance Units. She concluded her message by calling for expanded efforts for a democratic revolution and the establishment of a democratic republic.
