Western Negotiators: Iran Unserious in Nuclear Talks

Freedom-loving Iranians, MEK supporters rally in Vienna against the mullahs' regime — December 2021

Tehran’s demands in nuclear negotiations are extreme and maximalist, European diplomats say. Tehran presented two draft agreements to lift sanctions and bring Iran back in compliance of the 2015 nuclear agreement.

Iranians have increased sanctions relief demands in the first document, European diplomats say. The second document puts fewer limitations on Iran’s nuclear program than previously agreed.

Senior E3 diplomats were “disappointed and concerned” about the draft text. “Iran is backtracking on almost all the difficult compromises reached… and is demanding substantial changes to the text,” E3 diplomats said.

The delegations will go back to their capitals for consultations to assess next steps.

Blinken, not optimistic about Tehran’s intentions in nuclear talks

In other side, US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken said on Thursday, December 2, Tehran’s behavior in nuclear talks in Vienna is causing concerns.

Blinken: “In the next day or so, we’ll be in a position to judge whether Iran actually intends now to engage in good faith.”
Blinken: “recent moves, recent rhetoric, don’t give us a lot of cause for … optimism.”
Blinken: “What Iran can’t do is sustain the status quo of building their nuclear program while dragging their feet on talks.”
Iran has started enriching uranium with advanced centrifuges at the Fordow plant, IAEA reported on Wednesday, December 1, 2021.
