Mohsen Shekari (محسن شکاری): Iranian youth executed over anti-regime protests

On December 8, 2022, Iran’s regime executed 23-year-old Mohsen Shekari (محسن شکاری). Shekari was arrested in Tehran during the nationwide uprisings that began in September.
The protests have spread to more than 280 cities, with people across Iran demanding regime change
He was accused of “Moharebeh”, a vague charge the regime uses against dissidents.
The regime has arrested thousands of people in recent protests. Dozens have been charged with “Moharebeh” and are under the threat of being executed.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the NCRI, sent a message on the nationwide uprising of the Iranian people, strongly condemned the execution of Mohsen Shekari and said: “Imprisoned protester, Mohsen Shekari, 23, was executed on Khamenei’s order, showing the regime’s fear in the face of Iran Revolution and the prospect of being overthrown. This vicious crime will fuel people’s anger. Courageous youths and protesters will not remain silent.”

She added: “I urge the UN, EU, member states, and human rights defenders to strongly condemn the execution of the 23-year-old Mohsen Shekari and take effective and practical measures against religious fascism ruling Iran to Stop Executions. Silence, inaction, trample human rights values.”

Mrs. Rajavi, continued: “Political relations and diplomatic engagement with a regime that relies on executions to preserve its rule are unjustifiable. The regime’s embassies must be shut down, its diplomats and IRGC-MOIS agents expelled.”
