Mohammad Mehdi Karami and Mohammad Hosseini hanged over Iran protests
On January 7, Iran’s regime hanged Mohammad Mehdi Karami (محمد مهدی کرمی) and Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini (سید محمد حسینی). Karami and Hosseini were arrested on November 3, during protests in Karaj.
The protests took place on the 40th day of the murder of Hadis Najafi by security forces. Karami and Hosseini were charged with killing a member of the Basij, the force that suppresses protests.
Both were brutally tortured and forced to make incriminating confessions. They were denied access to lawyers of their choosing and subjected to an unfair trial.
The regime did not allow Karami to have a final meeting with his parents before his execution. The regime has killed at least 750 people since protests began in September.
More than 30,000 others have been arrested. The regime hanged two other protesters in December
Dozens of others are under the threat of execution.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the NCRI, sent a message on the nationwide uprising of the Iranian people, and said: “This morning bloodthirsty Khamenei shed the blood of Mohammad Mehdi Karami and Seyed Mohammad Hosseini to save his rule in face of Iran Revolution. But the blood of these brave souls runs in the veins of millions of Iran’s youths determined to bring down Khamenei.”
She added: “If the mullahs think Iran Revolution can be stopped through repression, torture, and execution, they are gravely mistaken. Our people’s response to suppression and killings-Khamenei’s main tool for preserving power, is Iran protests and the regime’s overthrow.”
Mrs. Rajavi continued: Execution and killing under torture, leave no justification for talks and negotiations with the clerical regime ruling Iran.
The UN, EU, member states, need to take urgent actions:
Shutting down of Iran’s regime terror embassies,
Designation of the IRGC and MOIS as terrorist organizations,
Expelling of the Iran’s regime diplomat-terrorists.
