Geneva—March 18, 2024: Iranian Resistance Supporters Rally Simultaneously With the Meeting of the UN Human Rights Council

Geneva, Switzerland—March 18, 2024: Freedom-loving Iranians and supporters of the Iranian Resistance held a rally outside the UN headquarters, coinciding with the presentation of a report by the UN Independent Fact-Finding Mission on Human Rights Violations during the September 2022 uprising in Iran.

The Iranians, supporters of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), also protested against the periodic presidency of the United Nations Disarmament Conference by the Mullahs’ regime, which vigorously violates numerous international treaties to acquire nuclear weapons and demands its cancellation.

In its initial report to the Human Rights Council on March 8, the United Nations fact-finding mission declared that “the Tehran regime has committed a crime against humanity through its actions” and has engaged in “unnecessary and disproportionate use of lethal force” to suppress the 2022 uprising, including reports of rape among those arrested. In 2023 alone, the Iranian regime executed at least 864 people, including 9 prisoners from the 2022 uprising.

During their demonstrations, freedom-loving Iranians demanded the United Nations, the Human Rights Council, and member states to refer the case of the regime’s human rights violations to the United Nations Security Council and to hold the leaders of the regime accountable for crimes against humanity.

They emphasized the imperative of extending the mandates of the Fact-Finding Mission and the Special Rapporteur on Iran.

Iranians also carried banners and placards and chanted slogans against the religious dictatorship regime in Iran and expressed their solidarity with the Iranian revolution. These slogans included the following:

The perpetrators and those who ordered the killing of 750 demonstrators of the recent nationwide uprisings of the Iranian people should be accountable and tried.

No to Shah, No to Mullahs, Towards a democratic republic with the separation of religion from the state.

Iran’s regime holds the record for executions in the world, stop the execution of prisoners and demonstrators.

Don’t make human rights a victim of appeasement with the regime of murderers of Iranian people.

Death to Khamenei, death to the dictator, death to the oppressor, be it the Shah or be it the leader (Khamenei).

In addition, the demonstrators urged the international community to take a firm policy against the regime’s human rights violations and recognize the Iranian people’s right to self-defense.
