It is reported that Iranian political prisoner Maryam Akbari Monfared, imprisoned in Semnan Prison, in a message titled “Tomorrow is ours,” expressed her support and that of her cellmates in Semnan Prison for the nationwide protests in Iran that began last week over rising prices of essential goods.

The full text of the message of political prisoner Maryam Akbari Monfared, published on 13 May 2022, is as follows:

We have been killed for water and bread for years; From “Kolbar” (cross-border porters in Kurdistan province) to “Sookhtbar” (Fuel porters in Baluchistan province) and now the whole of Iran, even in a rich country like Iran whose land and air are being plundered.

This is the voice of all of us that has risen from Izeh, Shadegan, and Ahvaz and will soon cover the entire of Iran.

These oppressed women and I are imprisoned in Semnan prison. Our food, often bread and cheese, has been reduced due to the skyrocketing prices, but we feel bitter for our people.

However, we were happy and encouraged to hear the cry of our compatriots in Izeh and the cities of the south.

People who, although not a piece of bread is left on their table, have dignity and honor engraved in their chests and have risen again from the blood of their loved ones.

I also find myself next to you from inside Semnan prison, hand in hand with these oppressed women and all of you who have no more bread or water; I shout loudly:

Through the sufferings, we, the hungry, without a smile, a smile returns to our lips.

Tomorrow is ours!
