Stockholm: Trial of Executioner Hamid Noury, Statements by Kenneth Lewis, the MEK Plaintiffs’ Lawyer, in the Final Defense Stage and Rally by Freedom-Loving Iranians

On Monday, May 2, 2022, Kenneth Lewis, the MEK plaintiffs' lawyer, began his final defense at the trial of the executioer Hamid Noury one of the perpetrator of the 1988 massacre of political prisoners.

At this session, he confirmed the statements of the prosecutor and the lawyers of the private plaintiffs regarding the proof of Hamid Noury’s guilt and his involvement in the 1988 crimes, and presented new aspects of the case.

He first explained the history of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran(PMOI/MEK) and the history of its relentless struggle against the Shah’s dictatorship in defense of the freedom-loving ideals of the Iranian people.
Kenneth Lewis then referred to the February 1979 Iranian revolution and the rise of the Khomeini regime and the beginning of the regime’s repression of women, ethnic minorities and political parties. He continued that from the very beginning the mullahs ordered the killing of all Mojahedin also, arrested and killed their fans and members.
Kenneth Lewis then went on to discuss how the PMOI began to oppose and fight the regime in defense of the democratic rights of the Iranian people.
In the final part of his statement, Kenneth Lewis proved with very strong and clear arguments that the massacre of political prisoners, especially the genocide of the Mojahedin, was planned and ruled by Khomeini months before Operation Eternal Light.
He also referred to Hamid Noury’s direct role in the execution and torture of political prisoners and even the beating of Mojahedin women in Gohardasht Prison, and finally upheld the prosecutor’s indictment demanding severe punishment and life imprisonment for executioner Noury.

After the court hearing, MEK’s lawyer, Kenneth Lewis, was greeted by the Iranian resistance supporters and relatives of the 1988 massacre victims, who gave explanations to reporters in response.

Simultaneously with this court hearing, demonstrations of resistance supporters and freedom-loving Iranians took place in front of the court of the executioner Hamid Noury. This was the 90th session of the trial.

The Iranians demanded the immediate trial of the leaders of the mullahs’ regime for crimes against humanity and the genocide and massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in 1988.
