Iran—September 29, 2022: The Iranian people’s nationwide uprising continued on Thursday, September 29. Authorities have escalated their deadly crackdown in parallel to internet disruptions. According to information gathered by the network of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), more than 164 cities across all 31 provinces have reported anti-regime protests in this month of September, and the regime’s security forces have to this day killed at least 300 protesters and arrested more than 15,000 throughout the country.

It is worth noting that despite the deployment of a large number of security forces from the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), paramilitary Basij units, plainclothes agents, and the Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS), the Iranian people from all walks of life are steadfast in continuing their protests against the entirety of the mullahs’ regime.

On Thursday, mass strikes were reported in different cities. In Tehran’s Imam Hossein Square, locals closed their shops in protest to the regime’s brutal response to nationwide protests.

In Isfahan too, shops were closed as people are using all their means to protest the regime’s tyranny and express their desire for regime change.

Protesters in the city of Mashhad in northeast Iran took to the streets in anti-regime protests. “Justice! Freedom! Hijab should be optional!” they were chanting. Mashhad is Iran’s second-largest city and a sensitive area for the regime.

On Thursday, protests were especially intense in Qom. Videos show protesters resisting against security forces that were dispatched to disperse rallies. In some locations, security forces opened fire on protesters. In other locations of the city, protesters continued to chant anti-regime slogans such as “Mullahs must get lost!” The people of Qom held their ranks against security forces by chanting, “No fear! We are all together!”

In Sanandaj, protests continued on Thursday despite heavy security presence. Protesters rallied in several locations and were chanting, “Death to Khamenei!” In some locations, gunshots could be heard.

It is worth noting that the regime has been especially harsh in the repression of protests in Kurdish cities. However, people continue their resistance and come back to the streets every day to demand regime change.

These protests began following the death of Mahsa Amini. Mahsa (Zhina) Amini, a 22-year-old woman from the city of Saqqez in Kurdistan Province, western Iran, who traveled to Tehran with her family, was arrested on Tuesday, September 13, at the entry of Haqqani Highway by the regime’s so-called “Guidance Patrol” and transferred to the “Moral Security” agency.

Protesting her arrest, Amini was severely beaten by the security forces in a van and was taken to the capital’s Kasra Hospital due to the severity of her injuries. After initial examinations, doctors declared that Amini had suffered a stroke and was brain-dead at the same time. Amini died on Friday, September 16. Shortly after, protests broke out in several cities, including Tehran and Saqqez. The protests have continued and expanded since.
