September 20, 2022: On Tuesday, university students in several cities across Iran resumed their protests over the killing of Mahsa Amini despite heavy presence of security forces.
Universities that joined the protests include Beheshti University (Melli University in Tehran), Tehran University, Allameh University (Tehran), University of Science and Technology (Tehran), Tabriz Medical Sciences University, Yazd University, Kharazmi University (Karaj).
The protesters chanted slogans against the regime’s leaders and its apparatus of suppression.
Mahsa (Zhina) Amini, a 22-year-old woman from the city of Saqqez in Kurdistan Province, western Iran, who traveled to Tehran with her family, was arrested on Tuesday, September 13, at the entry of Haqqani Highway by the regime’s so-called “Guidance Patrol” and transferred to the “Moral Security” agency on charges of violating the regime’s hijab rules.
Protesting her arrest, Amini was severely beaten by the security forces in a van and was taken to the capital’s Kasra Hospital due to the severity of her injuries. After initial examinations, doctors declared that Amini had suffered a stroke and was brain-dead at the same time.
Following reports of Amini’s death on Friday, people in many cities took to the streets and began chanting anti-regime slogans and holding regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei responsible for this heinous crime.
The protests have continued since and expanded to many other cities despite security measures by the regime.
