Verzuolo, Italy – April 14, 2023: A meeting was held by the partisan association and the Italian branch of Amnesty International to support the Iranian people’s recent uprising.
Ms. Anna Bonetto, the representative of the partisan association, referred to the leading role of women in the current uprising and expressed her support for the demands of the protesters for freedom.
Renzo David, the representative of Amnesty International, said: We demand the freedom of all political prisoners in Iran. Many of the protesters in this dictatorial regime are in danger.
The killing of Mahsa Amini was a drop of oppression that has caused the people’s patience to overflow. During the presidency, 632 executions have been carried out, with 128 in the last two months alone. Children were as young as 12 were tortured during this time.
We call on the people of Italy to act beyond empathy and support the people of Iran. The International Organization must constantly establish a human rights committee in Iran and address the issue of poisoning of schoolgirls in Iran to see what is happening in Iran.
The Amnesty International representative added: remind you that 30,000 political prisoners were massacred in 1988, and justice has not yet been established for them.
Ms. Ughatta Bianco, responsible for the partisan association in the municipality of Cuneo, said: The city of Cuneo has been declared a sister city to Ashraf in Iraq, and the mayors of Cuneo have so far presented the flag of the resistance of Iran to each other as a sustainable support for this resistance. The resistance in Italy during fascism is now linked to the resistance in Iran.
Ms. Elham Nikzat said, I am an Iranian woman who left my country ten years ago because I did not have the freedom and human dignity that is the right of every human being in Iran. To be the voice of the people of Iran alongside the historical resistance and the only strong and organized resistance against the regime of the mullahs, I joined the National Council of Resistance of Iran. I believe that with the sacrifice of the resistance, the regime of Iran will be overthrown.
Dr. Khosro Nikzat also said, After the Khomeini regime deprived people of all freedoms and shot them in 1981, the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) was established to overthrow the regime and establish a democratic republic. This council is a political coalition made up of parties, organizations, and various nationalities and groups, with Mrs. Maryam Rajavi as its president.
More than 52% of this council is made up of women, which is the most significant political aspect against the misogyny of this regime. He then read out ten points by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi. He referred to the statement of the majority of the Italian Senate in support of the resistance in Iran and Mrs. Maryam Rajavi.
Finally, Gian Piero Pettiti, Deputy Mayor, said, I understood from your talk about the resistance that the issue of women is very important to you, and as it is also stated in the Italian Constitution, we believe in gender equality and see ourselves aligned with the resistance in Iran.
