On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, the “No to Executions Tuesdayss” campaign marked its seventy-eighth week, this time involving prisoners from 48 different prisons across Iran.
In their latest statement, participants highlighted the alarming execution figures in the month of Tir (June–July)—at least 71 recorded executions—and the increasing repression targeting supporters of the campaign. They reiterated:
“Execution is not a path to justice, but a tool of intimidation.”
Once again, prisoners have announced a collective hunger strike to demand an immediate stop to executions, respect for human rights, and an end to state violence.
Below is the full statement from the seventy-eighth week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign:
The “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign Continues in 48 Iranian Prisons in Its Seventy-Eighth Week
Iran’s execution-driven regime has unleashed yet another wave of violence, especially against political prisoners. Reports confirm that at least 71 executions took place in the month of Tir (June 21 – July 21), often following trials lacking due process and relying on forced confessions. This has condemned individuals to execution without fair legal proceedings.
In parallel, the regime has intensified its crackdown on political activists and imprisoned supporters of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign. Systematic repression—including threats, torture, exile, arrests, family intimidation, and deprivation of basic rights—continues in an attempt to silence dissent.
The violent suppression extends beyond prisons. The regime’s security forces have used live ammunition against civilians. The recent shooting of young Raha Sheikhi tragically illustrates the brutality of state actions.
These sustained acts of violence are intended to instill fear and suppress public demands. Yet, despite these oppressive tactics, people persist in their rightful struggle for justice, freedom, dignity, and the basic right to self-determination.
Campaign participants strongly denounce this inhuman wave of executions and repression. As emphasized:
“Execution is not a path to justice, but a tool of intimidation.”
They reaffirm that no government holds the legitimate right to take human life—especially under circumstances marked by the denial of fair trials and systematic human rights violations.
Their collective message resonates every Tuesday:
“No to Execution” — a voice that will not fade until executions are abolished in Iran.
