No to Execution Tuesdays: The 80th Week of Nationwide Prisoner Protest Across Iran

80th Week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign in 48 Prisons Across Iran

Introduction

The 80th week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign is taking place amid a disturbing escalation in state violence. Over the past week, at least 30 executions have been recorded, including two women, and one carried out in public. Political prisoners across 48 prisons in Iran are once again raising their voices against the machinery of repression.

This week’s statement highlights the continued brutality in Iranian prisons—most notably the violent assault on political prisoners in Ward 4 of Qezel Hesar Prison. It also commemorates the 119th anniversary of Iran’s Constitutional Revolution, drawing a historical line between past and present struggles for freedom.

Key Developments This Week

  • 30 executions, including 2 women, since last Tuesday

  • Public execution witnessed

  • Amputation of prisoners’ fingers in Urmia Prison

  • Violent crackdown on political prisoners in Qezel Hesar

  • Hunger strikes in multiple facilities

The 80th Week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign in 48 Different Prisons

Commemorating the 119th Anniversary of the Constitutional Revolution

Full Support for the Political Prisoners of Ward 4, Qezel Hesar Prison

We begin the 80th week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign at a time when, since last week, at least 30 prisoners—including two women—have been executed, one execution has been carried out in public, and the cycle of violence and executions continues relentlessly.

In the past week, we also witnessed an utterly savage and inhumane act: the amputation of the fingers of three prisoners in Urmia Prison. Amnesty International, in a statement, strongly condemned this act and described the judiciary as a “cog in the machinery of torture.” The Special Rapporteur, Ms. Mai Sato, called it an “inhuman and degrading” act.

We begin the 80th week of the campaign while we still have no information about the fate of a number of campaign members in Ward 4 of Qezel Hesar Prison. On July 26, 2025, during a brutal raid by guards and security forces, they were severely beaten and transferred to solitary confinement in the secure section of Ward 3. Some of them were returned to the ward after five days, but the political ward remains completely locked down, with multiple cameras installed.

We have no information regarding the fate of five individuals: Loqman Aminpour, Hamzeh Savari, Reza Salmanzadeh, Sepehr Emamjomeh, and Mostafa Ramazani. Zartosht Ahmadi Ragheb has once again been transferred to the secure section. The condition of Saeed Masouri is extremely concerning; we only know that Zahedan Prison has refused to accept this campaign member, and he is currently being held in solitary confinement in the special unit of Ward 1 of Qezel Hesar Prison, in harsh conditions and in a state of limbo.

We, the members of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, while condemning the brutal attack on prisoners and the abuse and torture inflicted upon them, salute the resistance and steadfastness of our gallant and unyielding comrades. We express our gratitude to all those who have reflected and continue to reflect on the pain and suffering of the prisoners.

We firmly believe that the purpose of escalating executions, repression, amputations, and the unceasing application of naked violence is nothing but to instill fear and terror and to silence society—a society which, since the Constitutional Revolution in 1906, has thirsted for justice and freedom, has insisted on human dignity and the right to self-determination, and has paid the price for it every day through imprisonment, execution, and torture.

We continue to call upon all awakened consciences and freedom seekers—both within the country and internationally—to make the cry of “No to Execution” louder than ever through active support of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, and to place the expansion of this campaign—despite the efforts of the government and its overt and covert supporters—at the forefront of their efforts by all possible means.

Today, Tuesday, August 5, our comrades in the secure ward and special unit of Qezel Hesar Prison are on hunger strike along with 48 prisons that are part of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign.
