A Milestone Celebration

On September 7, 2025, the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) office in Washington, D.C., hosted a momentous event at the Mayflower Hotel to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).
The celebration brought together Iranian-Americans, members of the Organization of Iranian-American Communities (OIAC), supporters of the Iranian resistance, and distinguished political figures. The event highlighted the MEK’s enduring legacy of resistance against oppression, featuring a blend of artistic performances and compelling speeches that underscored the organization’s six decades of struggle for freedom, justice, and sovereignty for the Iranian people.

Welcoming Remarks and Event Highlights

The ceremony opened with heartfelt remarks by Ms. Soona Samsami, the NCRI’s U.S. Representative, who warmly welcomed attendees and set the tone for the evening.
Emceed by Ms. Anahita Sami, the event featured a captivating performance by renowned violinist Christine Kharazian, adding a cultural flourish to the celebration. The program seamlessly combined artistic expressions with powerful orations, reflecting the resilience and hope embodied by the MEK’s mission.

Distinguished Speakers and Key Messages

The event featured prominent speakers who highlighted the MEK’s pivotal role in Iran’s fight for democracy.
Dr. Ivan Sascha Sheehan, Executive Director of the School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Baltimore, described the MEK as a vanguard of democratic change, emphasizing its leadership in advocating for a free Iran.
Ambassador Lincoln Bloomfield, Jr. delivered remarks on the MEK’s historical sacrifices under both the Shah and the clerical regime, underscoring its unwavering commitment to freedom.
National security expert Clare Lopez highlighted the MEK’s critical role in exposing the Iranian regime’s clandestine nuclear weapons program, a contribution that has resonated globally

Dr. Daneshgari, a respected member of the OIAC, also delivered remarks, honoring the MEK’s legacy and its role in the Iranian resistance.
