Global Figures Urge Immediate Stop to Iran’s Regime Execution Surge

Growing Global Outcry Against Iran’s Execution Wave

More than 520 political leaders, parliamentarians, former ministers, and human-rights defenders from around the world have jointly demanded that Iran immediately stop its mounting wave of executions. The statement, released by the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), accuses Tehran’s regime—under President Masoud Pezeshkian—of orchestrating a “systematic killing campaign,” with over 1,800 executions reported since August 2024.

The international coalition warns that this scale of state violence could amount to crimes against humanity, urging world governments and the United Nations to intervene before further atrocities occur.

Women Among the Victims of Unprecedented Repression

The statement highlights the alarming rise in executions of women, with at least 37 female prisoners executed since the start of 2025—an act described as “unprecedented worldwide.” Human-rights advocates argue that this reflects the regime’s deepening cruelty and its intent to suppress any form of dissent or perceived defiance.

Activists also denounce the Iranian government’s glorification of past massacres—particularly the 1988 mass execution of political prisoners—and the destruction of mass-grave sites, which they say is a deliberate attempt to erase historical evidence of crimes.

Calls for Accountability and International Sanctions

The signatories call for immediate accountability measures against Iranian officials responsible for carrying out and overseeing executions. They urge international authorities to impose targeted sanctions on judges, prison administrators, and state security officers implicated in these acts.

In their appeal, the group emphasizes that silence from the global community only emboldens Tehran to continue its brutality. “Inaction paves the way for another massacre,” the statement warns.

United Nations Urged to Take Immediate Action

The coalition of global figures—including lawmakers, legal experts, and human-rights organizations from Europe, North America, Africa, and Asia—calls on the United Nations Human Rights Council and other international bodies to address the crisis urgently. They stress that the Iranian regime’s execution policy is not merely a domestic matter but a severe international human-rights violation demanding swift response.

Observers note that Iran’s execution rate—already among the highest in the world—has sharply increased under Pezeshkian’s presidency, reinforcing the need for concerted global pressure.

International Signatories of the Statement

The joint statement was endorsed by a diverse group of global figures, including members of parliaments across Europe, former government ministers, human-rights organizations such as Amnesty International, and other international activists and legal experts. This wide-ranging support underscores the global concern over the Iranian regime’s execution practices and calls for immediate international intervention.
