Maryam Rajavi Welcomes Iran War Ceasefire, Calls for Path Toward Peace and Freedom

Maryam Rajavi welcomes Iran war ceasefire, calling for peace and freedom

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire in the Iran war and expressed hope it would mark a step toward lasting peace and freedom, according to a statement from the Secretariat of the National Council of Resistance of Iran on 8 April 2026.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi welcomed the ceasefire, particularly the halt to attacks on infrastructure and civilian facilities, describing it as the most appropriate decision at a critical moment by the United States. She reiterated that the guiding slogan of the Resistance and its provisional government has always been peace and freedom.

Mrs. Rajavi expressed hope that the 15-day ceasefire, amid the ongoing Iran war, would lead to a complete end to the conflict and open the way for lasting peace and freedom.

She emphasized that durable peace, as consistently advocated by the Iranian Resistance over the past 45 years, can only be achieved through the overthrow of the clerical dictatorship of Velayat-e-Faqih by the Iranian people and organized resistance, followed by the establishment of a democratic republic.

Mrs. Rajavi also stressed that halting executions in Iran, a demand shared by the Iranian people, must be included in any international agreement.
