Gothenburg, Sweden – August 8, 2026: Supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) gathered to commemorate the Constitutional Revolution of 1906. The movement sought to establish representative government, strengthen the rule of law and place limits on absolute political power.

The participants, chanting slogans against the monarchical dictatorship, particularly in the aftermath of Iran’s Constitutional Revolution, when the achievements of that revolution were trampled upon and an era of dictatorship and dependency was once again imposed on Iran, paid tribute to the leaders of the Iranian people’s freedom movements, from Sattar Khan and Bagher Khan to Dr. Mohammad Mossadegh.

They also emphatically rejected all forms of dictatorship. Following the overthrow of the monarchical dictatorship in 1979, the horrific religious dictatorship of the mullahs replaced it, and the Iranian people’s struggle to achieve freedom, democracy, human rights, and the establishment of a democratic republic has continued over the past 47 years through the relentless battle waged by the freedom fighters of the PMOI, its Resistance Units, and the major nationwide uprisings of the Iranian people.

Once again, on the anniversary of the Constitutional Revolution, the Iranian community in Gothenburg reaffirmed its determination and commitment to continue the struggle against the mullahs’ dictatorship, while rejecting any return to monarchical dictatorship. They emphasized their firm support for the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and its announced provisional government, based on Mrs. Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan. Mrs. Rajavi, the President-elect of the NCRI, has emphasized a plan that guarantees peace, freedom, and justice, as well as a free and democratic republic that safeguards the rights of all the people of Iran, from women and oppressed nationalities to all segments of society. They pledged their continued commitment to this cause.
