MPs urge UK to blacklist Iran’s IRGC and Intelligence Ministry

MPs urge UK to blacklist Iran’s IRGC and Intelligence Ministry

A group of British MPs have called on Parliament to include Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps ( Iran’s IRGC ) and Ministry of Intelligence (MOIS) in the list of terrorist organizations.

Mr. Bob Blackman, who presented Resolution 2333 on the position of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), and the duty of the international community to the Iranian people, said:

The NCRI with the PMOI is clearly behind these ongoing anti-government protests that continue to grow. This regime only understands the language of firmness. The International Community, especially the West, must make it clear to the regime officials that we in the free world stand with the people of Iran and their Resistance movement, NCRI, in their efforts to bring freedom, democracy, human rights to their country, Iran.

Mr. David Ames, chairman of the Committee for Friends of Free Iran in the British Parliament, referred to the call of Ms Maryam Rajavi, President of the National Council of Resistance of Iran to list the Ministry of Intelligence.

The EDM, which many of my cross-party colleagues in the House of Commons and I supported, backs the call by NCRI President-elect Mrs Maryam Rajavi for the designation of Iran’s IRGC and MOIS as terrorist entities and calls on the Government to proscribe these repressive organs as foreign terrorist organisations in their entirety.

37 cross-party MPs support the Early Day Motion 2333 in the UK House of Commons calling on the British Government to proscribe the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Iran’s Intelligence Ministry (MOIS) as foreign terrorist organisations in their entirety.

Bob Blackman MP, the primary sponsor of the EDM 2333 on the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said:

The IRGC and MOIS stand at the centre of regime’s domestic crackdown and efforts to create an international crisis with increased aggressions in the region and terrorism in Europe as the popular protests across Iran that began last year are undermining the theocracy’s survival.

Many of my cross-party colleagues and I believe that the long-term interests of UK and the Iranian people converges with regards to countering and limiting the IRGC’s unacceptable behaviour.

The UK should therefore proscribe the whole of IRGC and Iran’s Intelligence Ministry as foreign terrorist organisation, a call which is backed by cross-party MPs in the House of Commons who supported the EDM 2333.

Sir David Amess MP, co-chair of the British Committee for Iran Freedom (BCFIF) which enjoys cross-party membership and widespread support in both Houses of UK Parliament, said:

The EDM, which many of my cross-party colleagues in the House of Commons and I supported, backs the call by NCRI President-elect Mrs Maryam Rajavi for the designation of IRGC and MOIS as terrorist entities and calls on the Government to proscribe these repressive organs as foreign terrorist organisations in their entirety.

Iran’s future is decided by the Iranian people and their organised Resistance Movement. We will continue to call on the UK government and the EU to adopt a firm policy on Iran that recognise the people’s democratic aspirations and organised Resistance movement, the NCRI, and their right to bring about democratic change to their country.
