Otto Bernhardt praised the Iranian people’s sacrifice in the course of their struggle for freedom and said that standing with bare hands against such a vicious dictatorship requires a lot of courage. Mr. Bernhardt also highlighted that recent Iran protests was against the regime in its entirety and it is unstoppable. He said: “The reason is the presence of an organized network of the MEK’s ‘Resistance Units’ and even the regime’s top officials admitted to the role of the resistance units.”  Barnhardt added: “The people of Iran have shown their outrage against all the regime’s factions, and specifically attacked regime’s centers of oppression, particularly those affiliated to the regime’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).” Mr. Bernhardt concluded: “The organized resistance is the key to freedom. Mrs. Rajavi’s ten-point plan sends a clear message about the future of a free Iran.”

At the event in the NCRI’s Representative office in Berlin, Martin Patzelt, as Iran’s reporter of the Bundestag Human Rights Commission, described the regime’s crackdown on protestors as “Crime against humanity.” He said over 12,000 detainees face imminent danger of torture and severe punishments such as execution. “Remarks made by the regime’s officials raises our concern over repeating another massacre. Our silence vis-à-vis this crime and over the massacre of political prisoners in 1988, makes us complicit in regime’s crimes,” Patzelt said. He also said, “Germany’s government should sometimes prioritize human rights over its economic interests to put pressure on Iran’s regime.”  Patzelt also urged the United Nations to send a fact-finding mission to Iran to visit Iranian prisons and to hold regime’s authorities to account for their crimes. He said: “There shouldn’t be any impunity in facing justice.”

Thomas Nord, MP of the DIE LINKE party of Germany’s Federal Parliament, told the participants of the event at the NCRI’s Representative office in Berlin: “The western, particularly European countries can’t just idly stand by. The risen people of Iran need vast international support. The European Union should support Iranian people’s uprising and their legitimate demand to topple a dictatorship.”

Javad Dabiran

Javad Dabiran, the deputy director of the NCRI’s Representative office in Berlin, also said that Iran’s regime systematic attacks and crimes against the unarmed civilians are clear signs of crime against humanity. He also said that regime’s top officials, such as Friday prayer leaders use state medias and tribunes to call the protesters Mohareb (Enemies of God) and affiliated to the MEK and demand their execution, this is clear sign of crime against humanity. Mr. Dabiran also highlighted that the international community shouldn’t wait to witness another massacre such as the one in 1988. Germany and other European countries should demand an urgent session of UN Security Council. He concluded that holding regime’s authorities for their crimes to account is a legitimate and necessary demand from the international community and organizations.

An exposition with pictures, reports and video clips of recent nationwide Iran protests was organized on the sidelines of the event at the NCRI’s Representative office in Berlin.
