Human rights organizations condemn the crackdown on Iranian protests

By Staff

Recent protests In Iran have taken over 190 cities across the country and have been met with bloody crackdowns by the mullahs’ security apparatus.

According to the reports by the network of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI), also known as the Mujahedin-e-Khalq (MEK), inside Iran, demonstrations have taken place in more than 189 cities. More than 1,000 protesters have been killed, 4,000 wounded and 12,000 arrested during the Iran protests.

In addition to international support for the people and their resistance for democracy and freedom, a number of human rights organizations have come out in support of the Iranian people’s uprising and condemned the bloody crackdown on demonstrators.

These organizations are from various countries with UN consultative status. The following is the statement of these human rights organizations

We urge the United Nations and international human rights defenders to strongly condemn the suppression of protesters in Iran and immediately send a delegation from the United Nations to investigate the situation of the martyrs, the wounded and those arrested.

The international silence on crime against humanity in Iran is unacceptable. The UN Security Council must recognize the Iranian regime and its officials as responsible for crimes against humanity and bring them to justice.

Statement by Bangladesh Human Rights Institute

We condemn the brutal suppression of Iran protests. The protests have so far resulted in 1000 deaths, 4000 wounded and 12,000 arrests. The detainees face very difficult conditions. Khamenei and Rouhani ordered to attack the protesters. We call on the United Nations and all its member states to publicly condemn this bloody crackdown, independent observers and UN fact-finding mission should be allowed to visit Iranian prisons.

We join Amnesty International and other human rights organizations and urge the United Nations and its member states to explicitly condemn the bloody crackdown on demonstrations in Iran and to persuade the Iranian authorities to allow independent human rights monitors and representatives of UN fact-finding mission to visit hospitals and detention centers

What is happening in Iran now must arouse the conscience of the whole world.

The Iranian regime is ruthlessly attacking civilians. Hundreds have been killed and thousands have been wounded, and this is how the criminal regime acts against humanity.

I urge the world to support the statement by Iranian opposition leader Ms. Rajavi calling for international action.
