The Iranian regime was involved in terrorist attacks, revise the presence of Iranian officials at the Iranian embassy in Rome!

Following a foiled terror attack aimed at the annual Free Iran rally organized by supporters of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), in Paris, for the first time, an Iranian regime’s diplomat-terrorist was arrested with plenty evidence of proving his involvement in the crime. The clerical regime of Iran is applying a full-scale effort to prevent carrying on justice.  On the other hand, the human rights advocators and organization are running an international campaign to hold the criminal terrorists accountable. The Italian Radical Party and the human rights organization ‘Hands of Cane’, in a joint statement demand Justice for the terrorists. The statement reads as follow,

Rome, 11 July 2018

To the kind attention of

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs of Belgium

Minister Didier Reynders

Dear Minister Didier Reynders,

we write you after attending the Convention organised in Paris on 30 June 2018, by the MEK, Les Moudjahidines du Peuple Iranien. All of us, as members of the Italian delegation, attended this event which is an annual meeting with the participation of very prominent personalities coming from the five continents. Just to mention some of those present this year: Rudy Giuliani, former Mayor of New York, Newt Gingrich, former spoke-person of the House of Rapresentatives, Stephen Harper and John Baird, former Prime Minister and Minister of Canada, Bernard Kouchner, Sid Ahmad Ghozali, former Prime Minister of Algeria, Pandeli Majko, Minister of Albania, Rev. Rowan Williams, Arcivescovo di Canterbury and Nazir Hakim, General Director of the Syrian opposition coalition.

We were appalled to know that, according to the Belgian Federal Prosecutor’s Office, a husband and wife were arrested in Belgium because “they were charged with attempted terrorist murder and the preparation of a terrorist offence.” In fact,   “both are suspected of wanting to commit a bomb attack in Villepinte (France) on Saturday 30 June 2018 at a conference held there by the MEK.” The Prosecutor’s Office further stated that an “Iranian diplomat at the Austrian Embassy in Vienna” was “arrested in Germany” in connection with the operation. A fourth person was also arrested in France, and the Belgian authorities have issued an extradition request for him. According to media reports the regime’s diplomat personally handed over the explosives and detonator to the Belgian couple to carry out the attack.

The press release by the Prosecutor’s Office also stated that “Cooperation between the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office, the VSSE, the Antwerp Federal Judicial Police, DOVO and the French (DGSI) and German judicial authorities has made it possible to prevent a terrorist attack.”

We also know that, the Iranian regime has been desperately trying to cover up the truth. The regime’s Moreign Minister claimed that the whole scenario is set to undermine EU relation with Tehran.

The spokesman for the regime’s Foreign Ministry claimed that the whole episode is a plot by the People’s Mojahedin Organisation of Iran and alleged that the couple were PMOI/MEK members, but it kept quiet about regime’s diplomat!

Some state-controlled media went even further and suggested a scenario based on which the regime’s diplomat was trapped in contacting the couple! It was also said that the diplomat might have been filmed with the couple.

Among the misinformation being spread by the regime’s silent cells are repeating the regime’s ridiculous claim that the MEK tried to bomb their own event, that the bombing was a deliberate effort on the part of the opposition to cause friction at the subsequent trip to Europe by the regime’s President Hassan Rouhani, and that the half-a-kilo explosives that Belgian police confiscated from the terrorists were only meant to be used as a ‘sound bomb’ with no casualties but creating a media storm.

The German daily BILD this week quoted security sources as saying that the pair had gone to Luxembourg where they met with Assadollah Assadi, an Iranian diplomat from the regime’s embassy in Vienna. There, Assadi personally handed them the bomb that they were to use for the attack.  According to security sources quoted by the Belgian daily Die Standard the arrested couple said that they had been operating under duress for fear of their families being harmed in Iran, but Belgian investigators believe they were long-term operators for the Tehran regime.

Rejecting regime’s propaganda, the Belgian prosecutor’s spokesman said on July 6, 2018 that “MEK is not suspect in the plot” and, when asked if the Iranian diplomat was an agent of any of Iran’s security services, a Belgian judicial source replied, “Practically all employees of Iranian embassies are part of the Iranian Secret Service.”

We firmly believe that appeasement is never the right way to handle despotic regimes. For this reason, we ask you to reject the regime’s officials attempt to cover up their blatant involvement in acts of terrorism in Europe, and to support all what is needed, in your country and abroad, to assert the true.

Sincerely Yours,

  1. E. Amb. Giulio Maria Terzi
