Romanian Lawmaker, Romeo Nicoara supports nationwide Iran protests

Romanian Lawmaker, Romeo Nicoara supports nationwide Iran protests

By staff

In a message, on December 15, Romeo Nicoara, Member of the Romanian Parliament, expressed his support and solidarity with the nationwide Iran protests and the Iranian resistance movement, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI, MEK) and the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI). He also urged the international community to choose a firm policy vis-a-vis the Iranian regime’s deadly crackdown on protesters.

Below is the full text of Mr. Nicoara’s message.

Hello,

My name is Romeo Nicoara, member of the Romanian Parliament. I hereby express my regret and sadness over the deaths of hundreds of Iranians in the past few days. Some of the victims were under the age of 18. They were unarmed and came to the streets to protest against a regime that is not of their choice. The Iranian people shout out that they do not want the mullahs’ rule. They are seeking a democratic republic based on the separation of religion and government.

In response to their protests, lead bullets shatter their brains. Why? Do we not all live in a global village? So what has been the reaction of the inhabitants of this global village to these crimes so far? Aren’t international organizations, especially the UN, responsible for such crimes? Yes, the whole world, especially the UN is involved because Iran is a member of this international organization and has signed its various conventions on human rights.

Romeo Niocara added: Unfortunately, the significant silence of the international community has given way to the religious fascist regime in Iran to kill as many Iranians as possible. Over the past 40 years of its rule, we have witnessed the execution of 120,000 political dissidents and the massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in 1988. This killing machine is still causing victims.

Mr. Romeo Niocara highlighted: Thousands have been injured or arrested during recent days. The fate of the detainees is unknown, and with statements made by the regime’s leaders on various tribunes, the amputation of protesters is considered a religious doctrine. They are very likely to be tortured and executed, particularly that this regime has a long history in the field of executions.

Silence is enough. We must take a stand against these crimes against humanity. I, on behalf of the Committee of Romanian Parliamentarians for Free Iran, condemn this massacre and demand the release of the detainees and their torture and execution to be stopped.

Here is a part of Ms. Maryam Rajavi’s message regarding this uprising.

has repeatedly called on the UN Security Council, governments, and international human rights bodies to take action to immediately halt the massacre and suppression of the Iranian people and secure the release of those arrested. She has also emphasized the imperative to dispatch UN delegations to Iran to investigate the situation of the martyrs, the wounded, and the prisoners.

With hopes for democracy in Iran,
