In a show of strong bipartisan solidarity, the majority of North Carolina’s Legislature has officially declared its support for the widespread uprising taking place in Iran.
These state lawmakers emphasize that the American people stand behind the Iranian population’s aspirations for a democratic republic founded on the principles of religious and state separation, as well as a nuclear-free Iran. This unwavering support is exemplified by the overwhelming endorsement of Resolution 100 in the 118th Congress by the United States House of Representatives, which has already garnered the signatures of 237 House Representatives from both sides of the political spectrum.
According to the statement, the people of Iran have suffered from the deprivation of their fundamental liberties, as demonstrated by their protest slogans. They vehemently reject both the dictatorial rule of the monarchy and the oppressive religious regime.
The statement from North Carolina’s Legislature declares that Mrs. Rajavi‘s 10-point plan, which advocates for free elections, gender equality, religious and ethnic inclusivity, a foreign policy grounded in peaceful coexistence, and a nuclear-free Iran, embodies the principles championed by Thomas Jefferson. As such, it deserves the support of every American citizen, as affirmed by the North Carolina Legislature.
