Leo Dautzenberg, Former German MP, Addresses Berlin Rally

At significant gathering in Berlin on February 10th, Leo Dautzenberg, a former German MP, spoke before a crowd of thousands comprising Iranians and supporters of the Iranian Resistance. He underscored the continued battle against the oppressive regime.

Mr. Dautzenberg passionately advocated for the recognition of President Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan as a democratic alternative. He also urged the audience to remain vigilant against regime propaganda and emphasized the crucial need to counter misinformation campaigns directed at the National Resistance Council and the German-Iranian community.

A translated version of former MP Leo Dautzenberg follows:

Ladies and Gentlemen, dear friends, today marks a historic day. We commemorate the significant Iranian Revolution of 1979, aiming for freedom and democracy. Forty-five years ago, the strong will of the Iranian people ended the dictatorship and oppressive regime of the Shah. However, the higher goal of freedom and democracy unfortunately did not materialize. Khomeini, one of the greatest dictators of the 20th century, abused his power and deprived people of their dreams of freedom by introducing Islamic fundamentalism.

Over the past 45 years, crimes against the Iranian people by religious leaders and the Mullahs’ regime have failed to quell the profound resistance against the inhumane dictatorship for freedom. This resistance, led by the National Resistance Council and its central force of popular solidarity, has paid a high price to expose the true face of the Mullah dictatorship.

In 1988, over 30,000 resistance fighters were executed. This sacrifice, dear friends, must not be in vain. The significant popular uprisings of the last six years prove that this Mullah regime can only maintain power through extreme violence against its people.

The goal of freedom remains alive, and the power of change is embodied in the Iranian resistance as a democratic alternative to the Ten-Point Plan of President Rajavi. This alternative, dear friends, should receive more support from Western countries.

Since the barbaric terrorist attack by Hamas on October 7 last year in Israel, it has become increasingly clear to many, though not all, that the Mullahs’ regime, with its Revolutionary Guards and proxies, is the true instigator and supporter of terror in the Middle East and worldwide. The People’s Mojahideen have been pointing out this fact and circumstance for years, but many in the West still fail to grasp it.

It is the destructive force of the Iranian regime that must be countered. From day one, the People’s Mojahideen has identified the Mullah regime as the head of the snake in the Gaza war and the Middle East, which should be targeted. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken emphasizes that the proxy groups of the Islamic Republic of Iran are trying to undermine any effort to bring peace to the region.

However, one thing should be clear to us: the right to exist of the State of Israel must never be questioned. Peace in the region and democracy in Iran depend on regime change in Iran. The power of change must come from the Iranian people themselves. The fight against the IRGC will be crucial for change. This fact underscores the special importance of the Resistance Units for us. The Resistance Units, risking their lives, organizing protests, and bravely opposing the repressive IRGC, must be fully supported by us.

Dear friends, at the same time, we must also vigorously counter and expose the propaganda and smear campaigns of the regime and its supporters, including so-called Iran experts, of whom there are still some. This is also part of our task: to dismantle the wall of disinformation and slander against the NCRI and the society of German-Iranians.

Dear friends, ladies and gentlemen, the struggle for freedom and democracy in Iran is not only taking place in Tehran but also here today in Berlin, with thousands of courageous citizens. Thank you very much. And dear friends, now I would like to hand over to President Rajavi. I believe we all consider it a special honor that she will speak to us today. Thank you very much.
