A significant bipartisan summit concerning Iran took place in Washington D.C. on March 9, 2024, shining a spotlight on the regime’s internal repression and its campaigns of terror abroad. Hosted by the Organization of Iranian American Communities (OIAC), the summit brought together influential figures and activists committed to confronting Iran’s human rights violations and its efforts to destabilize regions globally.

Former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, alongside former Supreme Allied Commander of NATO Forces in Europe General Wesley Clark, former U.S. National Security Advisor James Jones, and former Under-secretary of State for Arms Control And International Security Robert Joseph, collectively emphasized the urgent need to promote a free and democratic Iran as a means to achieve sustainable peace in the region. They highlighted the regime’s penchant for inciting conflict, engaging in terrorism, and suppressing its own population.

President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, addressed the summit remotely, stressing the necessity of confronting Iran’s oppressive regime and its global threats. She called for the Iranian people to lead the charge in overthrowing the clerical regime, citing widespread repression and human rights abuses. Mrs. Rajavi urged international solidarity in facing Iran’s leadership, advocating for comprehensive sanctions and practical measures to counter its destabilizing influence.

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo condemned the Iranian regime for its ongoing oppression and destabilizing actions, urging global leaders not to appease Tehran’s terrorism. He highlighted the regime’s sham trials and attempts to persecute members of the opposition movement, expressing concern over potential extradition requests or terror justifications.

General James Jones labeled the Iranian regime as the ‘head of the snake’ and urged unwavering support for the Iranian people in their pursuit of democracy. He emphasized the regime’s sponsorship of terrorism and its suppression of dissent.
Former U.S. National Security Advisor under President Obama emphasized the growing strength of the organized opposition in Iran and called for Western capitals to abandon appeasement policies.

General Wesley Clark stressed the urgent need for change in Iran, condemning the regime’s oppressive tactics and its destabilizing role in the region. He provided an analysis of the regime’s malign activities and called for international condemnation.

Ambassador Robert Joseph criticized the international community’s failure to confront Iran’s terrorism and human rights abuses, calling for decisive action and support for democratic opposition within Iran.

Representatives from Iranian American community organizations voiced their dedication to advocating for policy reform and supporting the Iranian people’s pursuit of freedom, democracy, and human rights.
