In a significant political move, a majority of Estonia’s Parliament, comprising 62 out of 101 members, has declared its support for Mrs. Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-point Plan aimed at establishing a democratic republic in Iran. This announcement also called for the designation of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization.
Key political figures endorsed the statement, including two former Prime Ministers, a former Foreign Minister, the leader of the Social Democratic parliamentary group, and heads of several parliamentary committees, such as Foreign Affairs, Defense, European Affairs, Economy, Budget Control, Constitution, Finance, and Environment.
The Estonian parliamentarians condemned the Iranian regime’s actions against opposition members, particularly those in Ashraf-3, Albania, emphasizing their rights under the 1951 Geneva Convention and the European Convention on Human Rights. The statement highlighted Iran’s alarming execution rate, with 864 individuals executed in 2023 alone, and recounted the 1988 massacre where 30,000 political prisoners were executed within weeks by the regime’s decree.
Furthermore, the statement criticized the Iranian regime’s ongoing farcical trials of over 100 members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), accusing them of “Moharebeh” (waging war against God). These trials, the Estonian MPs asserted, are mere pretexts for enabling terrorist activities in Europe and suppressing dissidents, especially those in Ashraf-3.
The Estonian parliament also highlighted the regime’s role in global instability, noting its involvement in Middle Eastern conflicts, attacks on commercial shipping, and the provision of drones for use in the war against Ukraine. They stressed that the IRGC, through its proxy groups, spreads terrorism and hinders peace.
In light of these issues, the statement urged all governments to support Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-point Plan, which advocates for a democratic republic in Iran based on the separation of religion and state and gender equality. They also called for the international community to recognize the Iranian people’s right to resist and for the MEK Resistance Units to confront the IRGC.
