Majority of Italy’s Abruzzo Regional Parliament Supports Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan for Iran’s Future

A majority in the Abruzzo Regional Parliament in Italy has issued a statement expressing its support for the democratic aspirations of the Iranian people and Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan for the future of Iran. The statement highlights grave concern over the ongoing wave of executions and systematic repression by the clerical regime, emphasizing that this stands in stark contrast to the Iranian democratic opposition, which advocates for “No to compulsory hijab, no to compulsory religion, and no to compulsory government,” as well as the broader “No to Execution” campaign.

The lawmakers warned that, as demonstrated in Syria, regimes such as Iran’s and Assad’s remain vulnerable to collapse despite their propaganda. They stressed that pursuing appeasement policies or investing in such regimes not only undermines democratic values but is also politically and economically misguided. Supporting the Iranian people, who are demanding regime change, is both a strategic necessity and a moral obligation.

Recognizing that the regime has completely blocked all avenues for peaceful political activity, the statement affirms the Iranian people’s right to seek regime change and the legitimacy of the PMOI Resistance Units in confronting the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The IRGC, as the regime’s main instrument of repression, must be designated as a terrorist organization.

The Abruzzo Parliamentarians noted that the Iranian opposition, led by Maryam Rajavi, offers a democratic platform through her Ten-Point Plan, calling for national unity and a clear roadmap to end religious dictatorship and transfer sovereignty to the Iranian people’s true representatives. This vision promises a democratic Iran and lasting peace in the region.

The statement referred to the global momentum of support for this cause, citing that in June 2024, more than 4,000 parliamentarians from across the political spectrum and over 100 former government leaders worldwide signed statements endorsing Rajavi’s plan for a democratic republic founded on the separation of religion and state and gender equality. The lawmakers urged all governments to support this plan.
