Majority of Yemeni Parliament Endorses Democratic Vision for Iran, Calls for IRGC Terror Designation

Yemeni Parliament Backs NCRI’s Vision for Iran, Urges Terror Listing of IRGC

In a significant act of regional solidarity, a majority of Yemeni lawmakers—including leaders of all parliamentary factions—have signed a declaration supporting the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and the Ten-Point Plan presented by its President-elect, Maryam Rajavi. The declaration also calls for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to be officially designated as a terrorist organization.

The signatories condemned the Iranian regime’s destabilizing actions across the Middle East, asserting that its foreign aggression is inseparable from its domestic repression. “The regime’s warmongering is tied to its identity and survival,” the statement read. Lawmakers accused Tehran of intensifying regional conflicts while pursuing nuclear capabilities to solidify its expansionist agenda.

The declaration emphasized that only a firm and unyielding approach toward Iran’s theocratic regime can bring lasting peace to the region. “Appeasement emboldens the regime’s terrorism and increases the risk of a nuclear-armed dictatorship,” the lawmakers warned.

Underscoring the importance of supporting Iran’s internal democratic movement, the Yemeni parliament recognized the right of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) and its Resistance Units to actively oppose the clerical dictatorship. The declaration firmly rejected both theocratic and monarchical forms of dictatorship, highlighting that the Iranian people have repeatedly risen up in favor of democratic change.

The Ten-Point Plan proposed by Maryam Rajavi was described as a credible framework for a free and democratic Iran. It calls for gender equality, religious freedom, judicial independence, the abolition of the death penalty, and a non-nuclear future for the country. The Yemeni lawmakers also voiced support for the NCRI as the most viable alternative capable of guiding a peaceful transition of power in Iran.

Citing growing signs of Tehran’s weakening influence—especially in Lebanon and Syria—the statement stressed the regime’s ongoing domestic crackdown, including mass executions targeting members of the opposition, particularly supporters of the MEK.

Yemen’s endorsement aligns with a rising global consensus. In June 2024, more than 4,000 lawmakers and over 130 former heads of state and government worldwide publicly supported Rajavi’s democratic vision for Iran.

By joining this international movement, the Yemeni parliament urged world governments to recognize the Iranian people’s right to resist tyranny and to support their struggle for freedom, democracy, and human rights.
