Joint Letter from 80 Nobel Laureates Urges World Leaders to Support Democracy in Iran

The Nobel Laureates condemn the Iranian regime’s brutal suppression of its citizens, including ethnic and religious minorities, and its alarming status as the world’s leading per capita executioner, with at least 864 executions in 2023. They stress that during the 2022 uprising, the Iranian people clearly rejected all forms of dictatorship, demanding instead a democratic republic.

July 2022: Forty one Nobel Prize laureate issued a statement to support Free Iran World Summit 2022. While supporting the ten-point plan of Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) for the future of Iran, the Nobel Prize laureates approved the demand of the Iranian demonstrators in the uprisings, who chanted: “Neither the Shah, nor the Mullah, damned be both of them”.
