The thematic report of Iran\u2019s protests in March 2019<\/strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nWorkers<\/strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nIn March 2019, we witnessed 85 workers\u2019 protests in 36\ncities, trade centers, and industrial districts, on average, 3 protests a day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The protests were held against unpaid wages and premiums,\nfrom several months to one and a half years; dire living conditions; dismissals;\nnot receiving annual retirement bonuses and the wages which are in turn several\ntimes less than the poverty line.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The most important protests of the workers in March were\nas follow:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\u2013 The municipalities\u2019 workers staged protest gatherings in\nthe cities of Kut-e Abdollah, Ahvaz, Choram, Tohid, Sarableh, Abadan, Yasuj,\nZirab, Chelgard, Rasht, Weiss, and Mehran for several days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 The railway workers in cities of Zahedan, Marand, Bandar\nAbbas, Ajabshir, Tabriz, Andimeshk, Mashhad, Khorramabad, Nishapur, and Dorud\nwent on strike for several days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 The workers of Tabriz Combine Manufacturing Company went\non strike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 The workers of Chame Shir Dam, Gachsaran County, went on\nstrike for several days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 The workers of North Azadegan oil field staged protest\ngathering and went on strike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 The Workers of Masjed Soleyman Petrochemical Complex went\non strike. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In March, plundered customers of Caspian Credit Institution\n(in the cities of Tehran and Mashhad), Padideh Institution in Mashhad, Caspian\nCredit Institution and Alborz Iranian in Tehran, Parsian Institution in Tehran,\nSamen al-Hojaj in Tehran, Shadi jewelry store in Tehran, Citroen and JAC\nautomobile buyers in Tehran, staged protest gatherings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Retirees<\/strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nRetirees held 11 protest gatherings in 4 cities. The most\nimportant protests of the retirees in March is as follow:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 The Retirees of\nSandoogh Ayandeh Saze keshvar (Country\u2019s Future-Making Fund) from provinces of\nMarkazi, Arak, Gilan, Azarbaijan, Tehran, and Alborz staged protest gathering\nin Tehran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013The retired workers of Haft Tapeh sugarcane factory staged\na protest gathering. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 The retirees of\nIran National Steel Industrial Group staged protest gatherings in Ahvaz (S.W.)\nfor two days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 The retirees of\nIsfahan Steel Co. held protest gatherings for four days. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 The retirees in Tehran held a protest gathering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Educators<\/strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nThe educators held 8 protest gatherings in 7 cities and went\non a three-day nationwide strike which included 204 protest gatherings in 59\ncities. They protested against the non-fulfillment of their demands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Students<\/strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nStudents staged 5 protest gatherings in three cities; the\nmost important students\u2019 protests were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013The students of the University of Khajeh Nasir in Tehran,\nstaged protest gathering for two days against the fact that the university\u2019s\nservices are to be offered only if you pay for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013The students of Agriculture department of Karaj University,\nstaged a protest gathering against preventing them from holding a student\nforum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Farmers<\/strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nThe farmers staged 7 protest gatherings in five cities as\nfollow:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 Farmers in Minab, Hormozgan Province, staged protest\ngathering against ban on exporting tomato. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 Farmers in Naghadeh, West Azarbaijan Province, protested\nagainst the non-fulfillment of their demands by the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 Farmers in Bandar Abbas, Hormozg\u0101n Province, protested\nagainst ban on exporting tomato. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 Farmers in Isfahan, protested against the cutting off the\nwater current in the river. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013Farmers in Naghadeh and Oshnavieh, West Azarbaijan\nProvince, staged a protest gathering for not receiving their wages from the\ncity\u2019s sugar factory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 Farmers in Shadegan City (S.W.), protested against the\nfact that the Rural Cooperative, a body affiliated with the regime, interfered\nin the election of Farmer\u2019s Guild Association. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Merchants:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bazaar merchants staged 4 protest gatherings in four cities\nas follow: <\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Marketers in Khorramabad\n(W.) went on strike to protest the high prices and market depression.<\/li>
- Mobile marketers in the\ncities of Ahvaz, Tabriz and Tehran, Allaedin Bazaar, went on strike to protest\nthe high prices and the fluctuation of mobiles\u2019 price.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
Others: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nIn March 2019, there were 58 more protest movements in 31\ndifferent cities. The most important ones were as follow:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 The flood-stricken people in Shiraz staged a protest\ngathering against the disorderly state of the city and receiving no relief aid from\nthe government agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 The flood-stricken people in Aqqala in Golestan Province,\nstaged a two-day protest gathering against receiving no relief aid from the\ngovernment agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 The flood-stricken people at the villages of Sarta, Bazyar\nKheyl, musa kola, Jenasem, Khandi kola, Varmy, and Saneh Kuh in the Central\nDistrict of Miandorud County, Mazandaran Province, staged a protest gathering\nagainst the officials\u2019 negligence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 The dump-truc drivers in Saveh city staged a three-day\nprotest gathering against lack of fuel and\ntires as well as improper ways of the distribution of those items. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 The employees of the Saham-e-Edalat offices staged gatherings\nfor several days in protest to the lack of job security and overdue salaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 The employees of the Ministry of Jihad-e- Keshavarzi\n(Agricultural Jihad), who had come from all over the country to Tehran, staged\ngatherings for several days in protest. They anticipated a 50% increase in\ntheir salary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 The contract drivers of Ahwaz National Drilling Company\nstaged a gathering in protest to their unpaid wages for six months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 The employees\nof Karaj City Hospital staged gatherings for several days in protest to their\noverdue salaries and their dire livelihood.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 During a visit of the northern province of Gilan, when\nRouhani\u2019s vehicle was crossing a street in Lahijan city, a citizen protested\nagainst his presence there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 On the eve of\nRouhani\u2019s visit to Gilan Province, people tore down his posters in Lahijan\nCity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
What makes Iran\u2019s social protests different from those in\nthe last year, or even the early months of 2019, is the effects of the national\nflood disaster its extensive death tolls and damages. Many people, particularly\nin the rural areas, lost everything. The Iranian regime has not assisted the\npeople during these tough times and will not solve any problem of the Iranian people\nin the future. So, it is predicted that the flood-stricken people will join the\nother protesters against the clerical regime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The surge in economic pressures on the people, especially\nafter the recent devastating floods will take the people into the streets and\nsocial and economic aftermath of the floods crisis will tighten the noose\naround the regime\u2019s neck.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n
