Iran\u2019s withdrawal from JCPOA, a pathetic show game<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the first anniversary of the US withdrawal from JCPOA (the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, or the 2015 Iran nuclear deal), Hassan Rouhani, ironically, announced partial withdrawal from JCPOA, ostensibly as a reciprocal measure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00a0The details of the regime\u2019s withdrawal from\nJCPOA were announced by its Supreme National Security Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to regime\u2019s decision, it\nstops exporting enriched uranium stocks and will resume higher uranium\nenrichment in 60 days if the 4+1 \u2013 France, Britain, Germany, China, and Russia,\ndo not take measures to protect Tehran\u2019s oil and banking sectors from the US\nsanctions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The threat of partial withdrawal\nfrom JCPOA and giving the 60-day ultimatum by the regime raises this question that\nwho is the main addressee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Iran regime counts on Europe as a\npotential player to rescue Iran\u2019s economy via saving the nuclear deal after the\nUS withdrawal. In this regard, the regime has been hoping to set up and activate\nthe plan of Instrument in Support of Trade Exchanges (Instex<\/a>),\nby the cooperation of the UK, France, and Germany to circumvent the US\nsanctions. This mechanism has faced serious hurdles because the European\ncompanies are reluctant to take the risk of being a target of the US charges\nand fines for involving in economic cooperation with Iran regime. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Iran regime\u2019s miscalculation; posing by threatening partial withdrawal\nfrom JCPOA <\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n In spite of the EU\u2019s commitment to\npropping the nuclear deal up, the primary European reactions indicate that Iran\nregime\u2019s ultimatum may put the mullahs at the risk of losing the crucial\nsupport that they have been enjoying in the EU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Reuters reported on Wednesday, May 8, the French government has\nacknowledged the possibility of either unilateral French sanctions or\ncollective sanctions by the entire EU if Iran ultimately reneges on the JCPOA.\nAgence France-Presse noted the following day that French army minister Florence\nParly had reiterated this point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Also, the British Foreign Ministry\nwarned the regime of \u201cconsequences\u201d for actions in defiance of international\nwill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n More importantly, a\njoint statement by the representatives of the United Kingdom, France, and\nGermany, as well as the European Union<\/a>, specified,\u00a0 \u201cWe reject any ultimatums and will assess\nIran\u2019s compliance on the basis of Iran\u2019s performance regarding its\nnuclear-related commitments under the [nuclear deal] and the [Nonproliferation\nof Weapons Treaty].\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n So, the ball is being thrown to the\nIran regime\u2019s court and the threat of partial withdrawal from JCPOA had an\nopposite of intended effect on the EU policy.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n Beyond any prediction of the\nevent\u2019s tracks, one can point to two important facts regarding the Iran regime.\nFirstly, this regime is surrounded by internal and international crisis and\nfears of being toppled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Secondly, to survive and cling to\npower with all the violence at its disposal, the regime will not hesitate to\nratchet up domestic suppression and accelerate its devastating foreign policy\nby resorting the means of ransom via restoring nuclear activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n To overcome the threat to global\npeace, the international community, particularly the EU, is responsible, and it\nmust withdraw from the nuclear deal and impose tough sanctions on this corrupt\nregime. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the\npresident-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI),\nsubsequent to temporary agreement with P5+1 on Nov. 2013 said<\/a>\nthat the full implementation of the United Nation Security Council\u2019s\nResolutions, in particular, complete stop of enrichment, free access to the\nIAEA inspectors are necessary steps to prevent mullahs from obtaining the bomb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
