MEK \/ PMOI<\/a>\u00a0Free\u00a0 Iran rally in Albania<\/a>\u2013 Louis Freeh Former FBI Director supported MEK and\u00a0 Maryam Rajavi\u2019s plan for a free and democratic Iran<\/a>\u2013 July 13, 2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Louis Freeh: Thank\nyou. Thank you very much. Ali Reza, thank you. Thank you so much. Thank you.\nThank you. I am very, very honored to be here today with you. And your\ninspiration, your prayers, your support, your commitment in spirit for freedom\nhave carried you so far in such a short period of time. Madame Rajavi, we\nsalute you, we love you, we respect you for not just the leadership and the\ncourage that you\u2019ve shown but the ability to move this peace commitment as far\nas it\u2019s moved in such a short period of time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Louis Freeh: And I\nwant to be brief. One of the advantages of speaking after all my eloquent\nAmerican colleagues is I can just adopt and incorporate by reference everything\nthat they\u2019ve said, which I do. But I do want to single out and thank the people\nand the government past and present of Albania for rescuing and saving all of\nyou in this room. An absolutely remarkable act of humanity and (bessa) I think\nis the word that you call it. And I\u2019m proud to say that one of my sons, I have\nsix of them, has married an Albanian woman. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So let me talk very,\nvery briefly about the changes. So not too many years ago, we were all in this\nroom and many others worried for the life, the safety and the life of all of\nthe Ashrafis present here and many who have been killed. In the United States\nof America, those of us who supported for you became the subjects of criminal\ninvestigations by our own government. And we actually welcome that. How great\nto investigate former attorney generals, former directors of the FBI and the\nCIA, the chairman of the Joints Chiefs of Staff, military general, the Speaker\nof the House, and I could go on and on.\u00a0\nBut you know, they didn\u2019t ask us any questions. And that was consistent with\nwhen I was the director in 1997, nobody asked me any questions about the MEK\nbefore the administration unjustifiably put you on the terrorism list. And why\ndid they do that? There\u2019s a lot of explanation. But there was I believe a very\nbad intent behind it. And if you want to use the word collusion properly there\nwas collusion with the Iranian government to designate a freedom organization\nas a terrorist organization to accommodate and appease the terrorist\nleadership. That was a mistake. How ironic now that we see the IRGC, who killed\n19 Americans in Khobar Towers in June of 1996, and countless other victims,\nmany of whom we heard yesterday, now sitting on that list. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Louis Freeh: So, I\nthink all of the indicators of change are here. Look at the Iranian economy.\nLook what the corrupt and terrorist leadership has done to the economy,\ncontracting the GNP by 6%. The Rial has gone down 60%. It\u2019s trading for 190,000\nper dollar. And actually the state of the Rial is in a better condition than\nthe integrity of the leadership in that country. We will see amazing change,\nand I think we will see it quickly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Louis Freeh: One of\nthe things I just wanted to say is listening to the testimony yesterday and\nviewing the room next door, one of the things we have to get ready for, one of\nthe things we have to prepare for, is the prosecution and conviction of the\nthousands of criminals who have murdered, assassinated, killed, not by\naccident, not by coincidence, but a designed plan to murder, mass murder a\ngroup of people. So, when you talk about the exhibit, I have to be loyal to my\nown perspective, I don\u2019t see it as an exhibit. I don\u2019t see it as a museum. I\nsee it as an evidence room. And an evidence room that has photographs, digital\nrecords, and can you imagine all the evidence, particularly in this day and\nage, all the evidence that exists that can\u2019t be erased, can\u2019t be deleted,\ndigital evidence, photographic evidence, and most importantly what we heard\nyesterday, unbelievable heartbreaking testimony. But that\u2019s eyewitness\nevidence, that\u2019s the most important thing in a criminal prosecution. So what I\nthink should happen now, as we prepare for change, one of the most important\nthings that I think everybody in this room can do is apply some of the same\nskill and detail and meticulousness that you\u2019ve applied to everything you\u2019ve done\nand start preparing for criminal prosecutions by an international criminal\ncourt. Economic sanctions are great. They\u2019re obviously having a big\nimpact.\u00a0 But what will terrify the\nterrorist more than anything is the prospect that they will be arrested, prosecuted,\nand convicted under the rule of law, which is something very strange for them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Louis Freeh: So, I\nwould ask you particularly my friends the Ashrafis watching this amazing\nconstruction, but I think of Ashraf 3 as temporary quarters. It\u2019s Ashraf 4 that\nwe want to visit. And I would ask the and I would ask all of you who worked\nhere on Ashraf 3, how long would it take you to build a courthouse in Tehran?\nand you know what, you already have a prison, so we can incarcerate them under\nhumane conditions this time in Evin Prison, and they can be prosecuted as\npeople were prosecuted in Nuremberg, in other places. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Louis Freeh: And the\nbiggest threat to that, actually I think the biggest threat, Mrs. Rajavi, to\neverything you\u2019ve done, is not even the regime itself, it\u2019s the politicians who\nwill try to accommodate and appease and come up with the ridiculous type\nagreements that we saw in 2015. Truth commissions, forgiveness, let\u2019s go on. We\ncan\u2019t go on. The testimony we heard yesterday cries out for criminal prosecutions,\nconvictions, imprisonment, and I think now we have to put that documentation\ntogether like the Simon Wiesenthal Center did after World War II. You may be\ndoing that already but I think that\u2019s a concentrated effort that we should do\nnow. And there will be many things including broken down American prosecutors\nwho will help you put that archive together.
