Iran threatens the Foundation for Defense of Democracies and its CEO<\/p>\n\n\n\n
By Daniel Mahdavi<\/strong><\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n On Saturday, Aug 24, the Iranian regime\u2019s Foreign Ministry imposed sanctions on the Washington-based Foundation for Defense of Democracies and its CEO Mark Dubowitz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The\nstatement by Iran\u2019s Foreign Ministry accuses the foundation and its CEO Mark\nDubowitz of \u201cintentionally damaging the vital interests of Iran through\nspreading lies and negative campaigning against Iran.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n But the reality is that the Foundation for Defense of\nDemocracies is known for its criticism of Iranian officials for their human\nright violations, ignoring civil rights and democracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The actions\nof the Iranian regime is reminiscent of the days that Ruhollah Khomeini, the\nfounder of the mullahs\u2019 regime, was in power and had a special fundamentalist\nand mad tendency to murder people and issue death Fatwas against writers and\nfreedom seekers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At the\ntime, in addition to occupying the American embassy and taking its personnel as\nhostage by groups affiliated with the regime, it repeatedly attacked American\ntargets in Arab and African countries, including a US marines base in Lebanon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Among\nthese brutalities, we can point out to Khomeini\u2019s Fatwa to assassinate write Salman\nRushdi.
