Sec. General Zahra Merrikhi delivers speech on occasion of MEK founding\nanniversary<\/p>\n\n\n\n

September 6 marked the 54th<\/sup> founding anniversary of Iranian opposition<\/a> group People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran<\/a> (PMOI\/MEK). On Wednesday, the members of the organization celebrated this occasion in Ashraf 3<\/a>, Albania, where thousands of MEK members. During the event, Ms. Zahra Merrikhi<\/a>, the Secretary General of the MEK, delivered a speech about the current state of the Iranian regime and the society, ongoing protests in the country, and recent achievements by the Iranian opposition and Iranian Resistance Units<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zahra Merrikhi:<\/strong> I would like to congratulate the dear people of Iran on the founding anniversary of the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran. You are the true owners of this organization, and you have nurtured it for more than half a century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the past half century, throughout trials and\ntribulations, you supported your organization and movement. The 54th<\/sup>\nanniversary of this organization is the result of your toil and it\u2019s your\nvictory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On behalf the members and supporters of MEK, I would like to salute our great founders Mohammad Hanif Nejad<\/a>, Saeid Mohsen<\/a> and Asghar Badizadegan<\/a>. By sacrificing their lives, they made a breakthrough and started a new era in the history of Iran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And we salute our leaders Massoud Rajavi<\/a> and Maryam Rajavi<\/a> who have set an example of sacrifice and honesty in the history of struggles for freedom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MEK is the principal force in the Iranian people\u2019s front\nfor freedom. This is an organization that is supported by all the ethnicities\nand religions of Iran, including Sunni, Shiite, Ahl-e Hagh, Christians,\nZoroastrians and Jews, Fars, Azeri, Turkmens, Arabs, Kurds, Lors, Baluchis and\nBakhtiaris, and representatives from all walks of life, from workers to\nintellectuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was thanks to this support that, in the past 54 years,\nthe MEK was able to overcome repression and execution, terrorism and\nconspiracies and the dirty deals of the mullahs in the region and across the\nworld, and become the flagbearer of the fight against two dictatorships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s no need to explain the dilemma in which the regime is trapped. The reasons for the mortal conditions that surround the regime are much deeper than international sanctions and the reduction of its financial resources, sad Sec. General Zahra Merrikhi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sec. General Zahra Merrikhi: The regime\u2019s problem is that due to different factors, including the effects of the organized resistance and protest movement, the mullahs have lost their capacity to ensure their own survival. The appeasement policy of western governments, phony reformists, and the other allies of the regime have lost their breath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mullahs\u2019 regime is in\nits overthrow crisis, and contrary to previous eras, it has no savior and is faltering\nat an accelerating speed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the turning point of\nthe uprisings of December 2017 and the end of the deceitful \u201creformist-principalist\u201d\nmaneuvering of the regime, the explosive state of the society and the direction\nof political events prove that the regime has no way out of the overthrow\ncrisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In such circumstances,\nthe MEK has a bigger responsibility to shoulder, because, as a revolutionary\nMuslim organization, it rose up against tyranny and fundamentalism since Khomeini\nhijacked the people\u2019s revolution, and it has been the main opposition of this\nregime in the past 40 years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In such circumstances,\nthe activities of the MEK and the Resistance Units and Councils, and the\nrelentless political campaigns of this movement on the international front to foil\nthe conspiracies of the mullahs and their supporters and to restore the rights\nof the Iranian people and their resistance, render the prospects of the\noverthrow of the mullahs clearer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During this same period,\nAshraf 3, which Mrs. Rajavi described as the \u201chome of the freedom of the\nIranian people,\u201d was built with the leadership of Mrs. Rajavi and through\nthe efforts of the MEK and the admirable help of supporters of the organization\nin Iran and across the world, and quickly manifested its political and\nstrategic importance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As you know, another\nimportant development during this period was the new generation of young\nIranians who joined the MEK movement in different cities of Iran, especially the\nyouth who took part in the 2017-2018 uprisings. Organizing these youth in\nResistance Units was another aspect of the MEK\u2019s activities inside Iran.\nDespite the regime\u2019s widespread efforts to arrest and torture members of the\nResistance Units, our organization was able to improve and expand the network inside\nIran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through their activities,\nthe Resistance Units were able to keep the flame of uprisings alit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, organizing protests\nthrough the founding of Resistance Councils was another important aspect of MEK\u2019s\nactivities, especially in the past year. The regime\u2019s security institutions and\nspokespersons have admitted to this fact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dear brothers and\nsisters,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our goal is to overthrow\nthe mullahs\u2019 regime and to establish freedom and democracy in our beloved Iran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I renew my pledge to\npeople of Iran, with my leaders and all MEK members to redouble my efforts to\nestablish freedom, democracy and equality in Iran. And I renew my pledge for\nthe overthrow of the mullahs\u2019 regime.
