Iran\u2019s schools and education system in poor state<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Monday marked the new school year in Iran<\/a>. 14.6 million Iranian schoolchildren have registered to go to school. But in the current state of Iran\u2019s schools and education system, there is no positive prospect for these students. Iran\u2019s schools are worn out, non-standard, cramped, and jam packed with schoolchildren. There aren\u2019t enough teachers and education workers to fulfill the needs of the future generations of Iran. And the discrimination between services provided to large cities and rural areas makes the situation even worse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mohsen\nHaji Mirzaei, the Iranian regime\u2019s education minister, stipulated last week\nthat there\u2019s a shortage of 100,000 teachers in Iran\u2019s schools. Iranian teachers\nare often deprived of their most basic rights and are struggling to make ends\nmeet and often work in double or triple shifts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nschools themselves aren\u2019t in a state that is suitable for educating young\nchildren. More than being a place for learning and teaching, Iran\u2019s schools are\na threat to the lives of students and teachers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last June, state-run IRNA News Agency reported that approximately 27 percent of Iran\u2019s school buildings are ruined, 34 percent require renovation and only 39 percent of schools have reliable buildings. IRNA concluded that 1.5 million schoolchildren are studying in buildings that need to be renovated and 2 million children are in serious danger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In September 2018, state-run \u201crouydad24\u201d website\nwrote, \u201cAs the latest census shows, the 20 million of the country\u2019s\npopulation are 7-19 years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0If we put this\nfigure together with the latest statistics of 14.6 million Iranian students, we\nwill not get a good result:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7.4 million deprived of education!\nWhich are added to many illiterate or less literate.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the reasons that millions of students are\nforced to drop out of school or have no opportunity to experience school,\nclass, and education is the expensive cost of stationery and the cost of education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example, the cost of a simple student backpack\nhas reached to 175,000 tomans this\nyear, which is 2.5 times more than the previous year\u2019s price.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding the high prices of stationery, a state-run\nwebsite Darayan<\/em> quoted a school principal as saying:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe price of paper has risen by 500 percent.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But it is the people who have to bear the extra\ncost, which is all due to the regime\u2019s corrupt policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yet the Iranian regime either plunders the\nnational wealth or wastes it on its warmongering agendas in neighboring\ncountries. This regime has not only pushed the Iranian society on the edge of\ndestruction, but also tries to eliminate the future generation. The only\nsolution, however, is to get rid of this regime. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0Jahan-e Sanat<\/em>, a state run newspaper, wrote on 14 Sep:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0\u201cWithin two months, thousands of paper pulp\nimported at a rate of 4,200 Toman per U.S. dollar left the country without\nentering the production cycle. Paper\nand media problems are one of the causes of corruption during this period.\nEveryone was involved in this corruption.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is worth mentioning that the U.S. dollar is\nexchanged in two rates in Iran. One is the official rate declared by the\ngovernment (approx. 4,200 tomans per USD) and the other is the real rate of the\ncurrency exchange market (above 11,000 tomans per USD). Government officials\nand their affiliates often take advantage of this deficit to purchase make huge\nprofits. For ordinary Iranians, dollars are only available at the high market\nrate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One\nof the results of the poor state of education in Iran is the spread of child\nlabor. According to estimates, there are about 7\nmillion working children in Iran<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nreasons and causes for deprivation of Iran\u2019s children from education are not\nwide ranging. A quick glance at the lives of most Iranian children who are deprived\nfrom the education shows the bitter realities of poverty in Iran. The economic\npoverty of families and financial deprivation creates a major barrier to\neducational attainment. As a result, many children are forced to go to the\nlabor market instead of school. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Article 5 of the Iranian regime\u2019s Labor\nLaw, the employment of children under the age of 15 is prohibited and employers\nwho violate it must be prosecuted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\nis absolutely clear that the high rate of children deprived of education shows\nthe inefficiency of Iran\u2019s education system\nand the violation of the Article 30 of the Constitution, which underlines the government\u2019s\nrole in providing free education until the end of high school. Any system that\nfails to abide by this law should be prosecuted under article 570 of Islamic\npenal code for violating a fundamental right included in the constitution. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tale of children who are deprived from\neducation is a long one. Every year, Iranian regime officials only talk of the\nnecessity to change the educational system, changes that will reduce or end\nthis deprivation, yet there is neither a breakthrough idea, nor a practical plan\nof action. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In\na statement on the occasion of the new schoolyear, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/a>,\npresident-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI<\/a>), hailed the\nteachers and students who have been standing up for their rights against the\nIranian regime. \u201cIranian students, teachers and professors are rising up to\nbuild a free Iran for tomorrow, to establish a society based on freedom,\ndemocracy, equality, and separation of religion and state, and to set up a\ndemocratic educational regime,\u201d Mrs. Rajavi said. \u201cThey seek to build an\nadvanced educational system which is free and mandatory for all children of\nIran, a credible higher education based on academic freedom, and a universal\nathletic regime where every Iranian girl and boy in every city and village\nwould have the chance to freely and equally engage in various sports fields.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students are the hope for building Iran\u2019s future.\nBut will they be able to attend classrooms?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For a regime whose officials are either stealing\nthe wealth of Iran or burning it in the bush of regional warfare, destroying\nnot only the present Iranian society but also its future generations, the only\nsolution is overthrow it and replace it with democratic state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
