MEK supporters in Norway condemn death penalty in Iran<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday, October 12, supporters of the main Iranian opposition group, People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI, Mujahedin-e Khalq or MEK<\/a>), in Norway held a demonstration to commemorate the World Day Against the Death Penalty, in front of the Norwegian Parliament and also to commemorate victims of the 1988 massacre of over 30,000 political prisoners in Iran. Most of the victims were MEK supporters. The protesters called for holding the regime and its officials to account for this crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the demonstration, MEK supporters in Norway held an exhibition\nto show the Iranian\u2019s regime crimes against the Iranian people and their\norganized resistance, the NCRI and MEK, which was welcomed by Norwegian people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MEK supporters in Norway\nunderlined that the Iranian regime has massacred 120,000 people during past 40\nyears of its rule, including the massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in the\nsummer of 1988.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the summer of 1988<\/a>, Ruhollah Khomeini, then-supreme leader of the Iranian regime, issued a Fatwa to massacre thousands of political prisoners, most of them PMOI (MEK) members and supporters. The victims of the massacre were buried secretly in mass graves in unknown locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MEK supporters held\nbanners which read \u201cFree Iran\u201d and \u201cNo to execution\u201d. Families of the victims of the 1988 massacre held\npictures of their loved ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MEK supporters pointed\nout that the perpetrators of the 1988 massacre are currently in high positions\nof power in Iran, including as Iran\u2019s Judiciary Chief and Justice Minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event included street\ndisplays of Iranian jails and execution. Photographs of MEK members executed by\nIran\u2019s regime were put on display. Family members of the victims of Iran\u2019s\nregime addressed the protest and called on European leaders to refer the\nregime\u2019s human rights dossier to the United Nations Security Council. They demanded\nthat the perpetrators of the 1988 be held to account at the International\nCriminal Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Parviz Khazaei, representative of the National Council of Resistance of Iran<\/a> (NCRI) in the Nordic Countries, gave a speech to the participants and called for support of the ten-point plan <\/a>of the President-elect of the Resistance, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a closing statement read by Ms. Hajar Livari, demonstrators called on the West to adopt a decisive policy toward the Iranian regime and condemn human rights abuses and bring the perpetrators to justice. They also called for support of Mrs. Maryam Rajavi\u2019s ten-point plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Final Statement of MEK Supporters in Norway<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supporters of the resistance, we have gathered on World Day against Death Penalty, in front the Norwegian parliament to cry that for four decades, torture and suppression constantly goes on in our country. The mullahs\u2019 regime\u2019s killing machine slaughters Iranian youths. The Iranian regime has killed more than 120,000 MEK members and other dissidents. Under the criminal Rouhani government, around 5,000 people have been executed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Execution of political opponents and daily killings of the youth is the Iranian regime\u2019s main lever of maintaining its evil reign. The international community\u2019s silence and inaction, particularly the west, about the executions and the 1988 massacre has emboldened the Iranian regime. Human rights are universal; therefore democratic countries should condemn the mullahs\u2019 daily crimes, and condition all economic and political relations with the vicious Iranian regime to the halt of executions; otherwise they are complicit in this regime\u2019s crimes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The only way for the western governments to put pressure on Iran\u2019s regime to stop human rights violations is cutting all economic-political relations with the Iranian regime and recognizing the right of the Iranian people and their resistance to overthrow the medieval dictatorship ruling Iran. If the international community had reacted to the 1988 massacre in Iran, we wouldn\u2019t have to witness massacre of Syrian people, the world would have been much more secure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ending executions in Iran is at reach, especially if the Norwegian government and people support the ten-point plan of the president-elect of the Iranian people\u2019s resistance movement, which includes the abolition of the death penalty. More than 80 million in Iran will be free from the mullahs\u2019 yoke. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hail to the resistance units, resistance councils and the National Liberation Army, who are struggling to end oppression and executions in Iran. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
