Opposition leader Maryam Rajavi remarks on Europe\u2019s Iran policy and Regime\u2019s 1988 massacre<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Tuesday, Iranian opposition leader Maryam Rajav<\/a>i addressed a conference on Europe\u2019s Iran policy at France\u2019s National Assembly, where she condemned the regime\u2019s human rights abuses and terrorism.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n The conference, entitled \u201cIran:\nrepression, belligerence, need for a new approach\u201d, was organised by the\nParliamentary Committee for a Democratic Iran (CPID) and focused on the current\nsituation in Iran, as well as the need to adopt a new attitude towards this\nregime because the appeasement policy has failed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Opposition leader Maryam Rajavi, who is the president-elect of the\u00a0National Council of the\nResistance of Iran, stressed that the regime takes foreign nationals hostage\nand uses its embassies and\u00a0diplomats to commit terrorist attacks\u00a0in\nthe West, which meant that the West should adopt a stronger policy to tackle\nthe Regime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Opposition leader Maryam Rajavi said<\/a>:\n\u201cThe regime understands only the language of firmness. The ruling mullahs\nconsider silence, leniency and calls for negotiation as signs of weakness.\nWhile they try to make it appear as though Europe needs mediation, they are the\nones in need of it. They have been emboldened because of inaction towards their\nregime\u2019s outlaw behaviour and belligerence.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n She noted that the only way to achieve\ndemocracy in Iran is for the West to support the Iranian people who want to\noverthrow this regime because there is no possibility that the Iranian Regime\nwill moderate any of its aggressive behaviours. This is because the Regime is\ntoo weak to change; any devastating from the norm would see it collapse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n French parliamentarian Andr\u00e9 Chassaigne and Yannick Favennec, a member of the Defense Committee of the French Parliament and Vice-Chairman of the CPID, agreed<\/a> with Rajavi on the need to support the Iranian people, while Philippe Gosselin, co-Chair of the CPID praised Rajavi\u2019s\u00a010-point plan for a future Ira<\/a>n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At the same time as this conference, the\nResistance organised an exhibition about the massacre of 30,000 political\nprisoners in Iran in 1988 on the Esplanade des Invalides, which is next to the\nNational Assembly. The massacre, which is the biggest crime against humanity of\nits kind since WW2, mainly targeted Resistance members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Rajavi also made a speech at the\nexhibition, where she hailed the martyrs of the regime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
