Who are the Iranian regime officials recently sanctioned by the US?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The US State Department, in coordination with the Treasury Department, has sanctioned a number of Iranian regime officials involved in exporting terrorism, producing weapons of mass destruction, and suppressing the Iranian people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this\nreport, we want to examine who the Iranian regime\u2019s sanctioned officials are<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ebrahim Raisi, the Iranian regime\u2019s chief of judiciary <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ebrahim Raisosadati<\/strong>, known as Ebrahim Raisi<\/strong>, was born in Mashhad\u2019s district of Noghan in 1960. After completing elementary school, he went to the Cleric Institute of Mashhad. His school education is only up to the sixth grade. At the age of 15, Raisi left Mashhad to study in Qom\u2019s seminary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the 1979 Revolution, Raisi, then 18, attended Qom\u2019s Haqqani School to study the senior management of the judiciary, intelligence and security services of the clerical regime with other clerics such as Ali Fallahian, Roohollah Hosseinian, Mostafa Pourmohammadi<\/a>, and others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the revolution,\nEbrahim Raisi became one of the elements of the main core of power, the machine\nof repression in the newly established religious dictatorship in Iran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the first days of the\nestablishment of the mullahs\u2019 regime, Hadi Marwi, a representative of regime\nfounder Ruhollah Khomeini in the city of Masjed Soleyman, invited Raisi to join\nthe prosecutor\u2019s office of mullahs\u2019 regime, where his duty was suppressing\ndissidents and opposition groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After all the\nrepressions in Masjed Soleyman, Raisi, while he wasn\u2019t any more than 19 years\nold, was sent to the prosecutor\u2019s office of Karaj, where his work was\nessentially interrogating the opponents of the Iranian regime. After a few\nmonths, Ali Ghodosi, then Attorney General, appointed Raisi as the prosecutor\nof Karaj after his 20th<\/sup> birthday. In 1983, after months of\ncommitting atrocities and crimes in Karaj, he was also appointed as a prosecutor\nof Hamadan. As the cities were 340 Kilometers apart, he spent half a week in\nKaraj and the other half in Hamedan, until he was completely relocated to\nHamedan after four months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Raisi\ncontinued the crackdown on the opposition groups as the prosecutor in Hamedan\nuntil 1985.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After that, the 24-year old cleric was promoted to the General Prosecutor\u2019s Office as the \u201cassociate deputy.\u201d The Attorney General had three deputies back then: The Economic Deputy, the Deputy Director of Drug Trafficking and the so-called \u201cAssociate deputy,\u201d whose duty was to crack down on opposition groups, including the PMOI\/MEK<\/a>. During the summer 1988 massacres, as a Deputy Prosecutor General, Raisi was member of \u201cDeath Committee\u201d that put thousands of political prisoners<\/a> to death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mojtaba Khamenei<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mojtaba\nKhamenei<\/strong> is the\nsecond son of Ali Khamenei. He is now 50 years old and married to Gholam Ali\nHaddad Adel\u2019s daughter, a former speaker of the regime\u2019s parliament and\nKhamenei\u2019s advisers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mojtaba Khamenei was a member of the Revolutionary Guards\u2019 Habib Battalion during the Iran-Iraq war. Later, he had a close relationship with Basij forces and Hossein Taeb, its former commander. It is said that in the 2009 election, Mojtaba Khamenei tasked Hussein Taeb with controlling the Basij force<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mojtaba\nKhamenei is said to be behind the scenes of security appointed by Khamenei.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mohammadi Golpayegani<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gholamhossein\nMohammadi Golpayegani<\/strong>\nis one of the top Mullahs in the government who has been the chief of staff of\nthe supreme leader of the Iranian regime since 1989.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In spring,\nhe held the post of Khomeini\u2019s representative at the eighth air base in Isfahan\nand after a while he moved to Tehran, but continued to work in the ideological-political\ndepartment of the Air Force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ray Shahri\nalso transferred Golpayegani to the Intelligence Ministry during his tenure at\nthe Ministry of Intelligence in 1984.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For a while, he was the head of the parliament department of the Ministry of Intelligence. During the1988 massacre<\/a>, he was at the head of one of the departments of the Intelligence Ministry. After Khomeini\u2019s death and the appointment of Khamenei <\/a>as the new supreme leader of the regime in 1989, he left the Intelligence Minister and became Khamenei\u2019s chief of staff. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

His son\u2019s\nmarriage to Khamenei\u2019s daughter, along with his three decades in office, has\nstrengthened his bond with the supreme leader. Golpayegani participates in many\nimportant government ceremonies and programs on behalf of Khamenei and he is a very\nclose and trusted confidant of the supreme leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ali Akbar Velayati<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ali\nAkbar Velayati<\/strong>,\ncurrently adviser to Khamenei, previously served as Foreign Minister for 16\nyears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the\n2013 elections, he was appointed by Ali Akbar Rafsanjani as the head of the\nExpediency Council\u2019s Center for Strategic Research. On January 20, 2017, he was\nappointed by the Iranian Leader as the Founding Chairman of the Islamic Azad\nUniversity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his tenure as Foreign Minister, he took many steps to facilitate the terrorist acts of the Iranian regime, including Mykonos restaurant assassination<\/a> case in Germany, in which Dr. Sadegh Sharafkandi, secretary general of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, and several other politicians were killed. Ali Akbar Velayati was one of the defendants in this case and his indictment was upheld by a German court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is also wanted by Interpol for planning and supporting terrorist operations against the AMIA Jewish Center<\/a> in Argentina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Major General Gholam Ali Rashid<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Major General Gholam Ali Rashid<\/strong>, is the current regime\u2019s commander of Khatam-al Anbia<\/a> Central Headquarter. He is also the Deputy of Defense Affairs at the Supreme National Security Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was the\nIRGC\u2019s deputy commander of operations from 1984-1989. Rashid served as the\ndeputy of intelligence and operation of regime\u2019s General Staff of Armed Forces\nfor 10 years between 1988 and 1998.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While\nserving as the deputy of intelligence and operation of regime\u2019s General Staff\nof Armed Forces, he became major General in March 1999. Four months later\nKhamenei appointed him as the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of Armed forces.\nHe held this position until 2015.\u00a0 Rashid\nis the commander of Khatam-al Anbiya Central Headquarter since 2015. Khatam-al\nAnbiya Central Headquarter is the IRGC\u2019s highest military operational unit; and\nit\u2019s in charge of planning, coordination and operational supervising of the\nArmed Forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In September\n30, 2019, NCRI\u2019s US Representative office in Washington D.C. exposed Major\nGeneral Rashid\u2019s role in the attack against the Saudi\u2019s Aramco oil\ninstallations on September 14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the NCRI\u2019s intelligence<\/a>, in its session on Wednesday, July 31, 2018, the regime\u2019s Supreme National Security Council approved the attack on the Saudi oil installations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the\nIRGC\u2019s commanders who were present at this session was Gholam Ali Rashid.\nKhamenei personally approved the plan of attack. Rashid and Amir Ali Haji-Zadeh,\nthe IRGC\u2019s Aerospace commander, became in charge of planning and executing this\nattack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who are the Iranian regime officials recently sanctioned by the US?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Mohammad Bagheri<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mohammad-Hossain\nAfshordi, known as Mohammad Bagheri<\/strong>, serves as the regime\u2019s Chief of\nStaff for the Armed Forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bagheri\njoined the IRGC in early 1980s and was an IRGC member throughout the Iran-Iraq\nwar. He was the head of the intelligence and operations department in the\nGeneral Staff of Armed Forces from 2002 to 2016. He also served as deputy of\ncoordination of the Khatam-al Anbiya Central Headquarter from 2007 to 2016. From\n2014 to 2016 Bagheri also served as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed\nForces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chief of\nStaff for the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran is the most senior\nmilitary position in Iran. Therefore Bagheri plays a key role in making important\nmilitary decisions, such as interference in the region, planning terrorist\noperations, funding terrorist groups and missile proliferation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vahid Haghanian<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the Iranian regime officials <\/strong> who is in Khamenei\u2019s inner circle is Vahid Haghanian<\/strong>. He is also called \u201cCommander Vahid\u201d or \u201cMr. Vahid.\u201d He was one of the top military commanders who has been Khamenei\u2019s special deputy and the deputy manager of the Supreme Leader\u2019s office during the recent years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Haghanian is\nin charge of announcing Khamenei\u2019s decisions and viewpoints to political,\nsecurity and military organizations, and to coordinate between them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is one of\nthe few IRGC members who rapidly became commander, without having a military\nbackground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hossein Dehghani Poudeh<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hossein\nDehghani Poudeh<\/strong>,\nis another regime\u2019s military official who has served in various military\npositions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dehghan\nserved as Defense Minister during the first term of Rouhani\u2019s presidency(2013-2017)\n, and he is now Advisor to the Supreme Leader on Defense Industries and Army\nSupport. From 2004 to 2009, he was Vice President and chairman of the Shahid\nFoundation (Bonyad-e Shahid), one of the largest economic institutions in the\nregime. He was also the IRGC\u2019s Aerospace commander. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition,\nhe was the IRGC commander in Tehran (1980-1982),Isfahan, and Syria and Lebanon\n(1982-1983), and general manager of the IRGC\u2019s Cooperatives Foundation (1996).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The U.S. has\ndesignated IRGC as a terrorist entity. The IRGC controls the Iranian economy\nand uses national wealth for terrorism, warmongering, interference in the\nMiddle Eastern countries and producing and proliferating weapons of mass\ndestruction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gholam Ali Haddad Adel<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gholam Ali Haddad Adel<\/strong> is\ncurrently a member of the Expediency Council, President of the Academy of\nPersian Language and Literature, and a member of the organization for\nEducational Research and Planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has been a member of parliament for a number of terms and is the\nfifth speaker of the regime parliament. He is also a member of the Supreme\nCouncil of the so-called Cultural Revolution which closed universities in 1989,\nand after a while took control of all universities. During the period, many of\nthe professors, academics and students who were intellectually opposed to the\nIslamic Republic were purged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On July 8, 2008, Gholam Ali Haddad Adel was\nelected by Khamenei as a top adviser to the regime\u2019s leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His daughter is now the wife of Mojtaba Khamenei, the second son of\nthe Supreme Leader of the Iranian regime. This family relationship has played\nan important role in stabilizing his position in the political structure\nsurrounding Khamenei.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ali Khamenei has also appointed\nHaddad Adel as a member of the Supreme Council of the Organization for Islamic\nCulture and Communications and the World Assembly of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) World\nAssembly, active in the field of religious diplomacy of the regime abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also runs the Islamic Encyclopedia Foundation. The foundation,\nwhich publishes the Encyclopedia of the Islamic World, was founded by Khamenei in\n1983.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His appointments and family relationships have led him to become a\nsenior advisor, thus giving him a multi-faceted, organized relationship with\nthe supreme leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
