The\u00a0Friends of a Free Iran (FoFI)<\/em><\/strong> intergroup in the European Parliament has issued a statement about the Iranian regime\u2019s onslaught on the nationwide uprising, calling on the mullahs \u201cto end [this] brutal crackdown on protesters in Iran with hundreds killed, thousands wounded and thousands more arrested\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friends of a Free Iran supported Mrs. Maryam Rajavi in the statement<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The statement read<\/a>:\n\u201cWe support the appeal by Mrs.\nMaryam\u00a0Rajavi<\/a>, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance\nof Iran who called this \u201can uprising to end 40 years of dictatorship and\nterrorism in Iran\u201d, regime leaders must face justice for crime against\nhumanity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friends of a Free Iran<\/em><\/strong> continued: \u201cWe urge the European Union and member states to stand with the Iranian people in their desire to live in freedom and democracy and to take urgent action to end the brutal suppression of protesters.\u00a0We call on EU heads of state or government and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy to strongly condemn the crackdown on demonstrators, release all detainees and to support the Iranian people\u2019s uprising for a free and democratic Iran.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The protests began on November 15 after the\nregime tripled the price of fuel overnight and quickly spread to 189 cities,\nmorphing into an overall for regime change, with protesters shouting \u201cDown with\n[President Hassan] Rouhani\u201d, \u201cDown with [Supreme Leader] Ali\u00a0Khamenei\u201d,\n\u201cDown with Dictator\u201d, and \u201cWe will not rest until we gain our\nrights\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Crime against humanity<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Khamenei ordered the Revolutionary Guards<\/a> and other security forces to open fire indiscriminately on demonstrations so the number of those killed, now estimated at 1,000, is rising by the day. There are also 4,000 wounded protesters and 12,000 detained. Still, protests continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement by the Secretariat of the\nNational Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI<\/a>) on December 1, the\nPeople\u2019s\u00a0Mojahedin\u00a0Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK<\/a>)\nnamed 255 victims.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friends of a Free Iran<\/em><\/strong>\u2019s statement read: \u201cMaryam\u00a0Rajavi [called] on the international community to undertake urgent measures to stop slaughter and suppression. She urged the United Nations to immediately dispatch fact-finding missions to Iran to ascertain the scope of crime against humanity perpetrated by the regime and to visit those detained. The leaders of the mullahs\u2019 regime must face justice for committing crimes against humanity. Silence and inaction not only violate human rights principles but also embolden the ruling theocracy to continue its crimes and expand them to the region as a whole.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
