The gas price hike in Iran has drowned the mullahs\u2019 ship<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before the 1979 Revolution, US President Jimmy Carter said that Iran was an\nisland of stability and Shah was claiming that his regime is the first power in\nthe region. Soon after, when the people poured in the\nstreets, there was nothing left of the island of stability or the power of the\nShah, and he had to flee Iran in the most humiliating way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today as the Iranian regime and its lobbyists and supporters claim, this country is not an island of stability, as it indicates, but a volcano that can erupt at any moment, and this is just the beginning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What happened after gas price hike?<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Hours after the sudden announcement of a <\/a>gas price hike in the early hours of November 15th, everyone was in shock. Some protested the government\u2019s move<\/a> in the early hours by turning off cars in the middle of the streets. Then protests and clashes became the main scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later it became clear that\nthe gas price hike have been announced and implemented \u00a0through the coordination of all three branches\nof the government. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

according to an internal\ndocument that was newly publicized, Khamenei sent a message to the parliament to\nforce MPs cancel a high priority draft legislation to revoke the decision, so\nthe regime can provide part of the government\u2019s budget and terrorist groups and\nthe Revolutionary Guards out of the people\u2019s pockets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier in 2017, the regime experienced gas\nprice hike but failed and retreated. \u00a0In 2018 the regime\u2019s oil\nminister, Bijan Zanganeh, responding to a reporter who had asked \u201chow long\nwill this price increase (gas) be logical,\u201d said: \u201d As long as people tolerate it (we will make gas more expensive).\n\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the recent gas price hike has had a very\ndifferent reaction from previous years and has triggered widespread protests\nacross the country; But did these protests really came against the gas price hike?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s take a close look at the recent protests\nand slogans and actions of protesters in more than 180 cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These slogans were: \u201cDown with the dictator\u201d,\n\u201cDown with Khamenei\u201d, \u201cDown with Rouhani\u201d, \u201d cannon, tanks, bullets, mullahs must go\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the protests, people also set fire to\ngovernment buildings, gas stations and banners of regime supreme leader Ali\nKhamenei and the monument of the ring of regime founder Ruhollah Khomeini. They\nalso attacked the offices of the Friday prayer Imams, who represent Khamenei.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We can see that the aim and demands\nof the people was not only rooted in the gas price hike, but also confront the\nregime\u2019s sovereignty and bases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The gas price hike was just a pretext, as the regime\nitself admitted that gas price hike was an excuse and people are targeting the\nwhole system. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Compared to the previous protests in both 1999\nand 2009,\nthe level of participation and the depth of demands, grievances and the kind of slogans are quite different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the student movement of the 1999 was unique to a\nparticular class or the 2009 uprising, there was a rise associated with the governing\nbody. But this time, the protesters who came to the streets in more than 189\ncities across the country were from the impoverished classes, which the regime\nhas long considered as its base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the one hand, we have witnessed high inflation and a\nshaky economy, and since the protests of December 2017, a complete security\natmosphere and public oppression that includes all\nsegments of society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This volume of internal discontent reveals the fear and\ninability of the regime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other hand, the atmosphere created by the US\nwithdrawal from JCPOA and sanctions on Iranian companies and individuals and\nincreasing tensions with other countries, especially Saudi Arabia, have put\nIran\u2019s shaky economy on the brink of collapse. It is almost politically\nisolated. The regime is barely able to fund its proxies in Lebanon,\nPalestine, Iraq and Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, the uprising of the Lebanese and Iraqi people has\nseverely weakened the basis for Iran\u2019s foreign intervention. The popular uprising in Iraq has openly condemned and targeted\nIranian intervention. Iraqi protesters torched the Iranian consulate in Najaf three\ntimes in a row.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, it is clear that protests have been going on all over Iran every day, and rarely have there been a day without protests in several cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strikes and Protests in different cities in Iran<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Strikes and Protests by Haft Tapeh\nSugar Cane Workers, Hepco Arak, Qazvin Counter Factory, Ahvaz Steel, Tabriz\nRailway workers and Tractor Co., , pensioners, and teachers\u2026 are among the\nprotests that were heard every day in a corner of the country. These protesters\nare shouting their righteous demands to the deaf ears of the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This time, with the gas price hike, that pushes all\nsegments of society and causing other commodities to become more expensive, people\nforged greater unity and greater partnership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The gas price hike has ignited the anger of the people\nand they protest against everything in this system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Corruption, the inefficiency of the\nsystem and the authorities, the suppression and terrorism of the Islamic\nRepublic, have destroyed the integrity of people\u2019s lives without exception. The government responds to any form of protest or liberation\nand democratic movement with the most severe repression from torture to\nphysical extermination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These protests are the flame of forty years of dictatorship and the killing of political prisoners and supporters of the PMOI <\/a>and their families; who are still looking for the graves of their children and the prosecution of those involved in that massacre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overthrow is the inevitable fate of\nany dictatorship, however oppressive it may be. This\nis an unwritten law on popular uprising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every time a dictator represses the\npeople, a stronger and more organized uprising will emerge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These flames of revolution that are\nraging in Iranian cities these days are the result of long pressure that has\nbeen unjustly passed on to the people that would\nundoubtedly be the beginning of the overthrow of the regime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All signs point to the continuation\nof the protests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During these protests, fortunately, the people\ngained a very valuable experience that all classes must continue in a coherent\nline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Iran is not an island of stability and peace,\nas the regime, its lobbyists and supporters and appeasement seekers suggest but it is a\nvolcano that can erupt at any moment, and this is just the beginning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
