Iran\u2019s nationwide protests started after the regime tripled the price of gasoline on November 15. Angry protesters torched hundreds of banks, seminaries, offices of the representatives of the regime\u2019s Supreme Leader, and IRGC and Bassij bases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following\nthe protests, Supreme Leader Khamenei called protesters \u201cthugs<\/a>\u201d in a\ntelevised speech. In the days that followed, the regime\u00a0mobilized\u00a0<\/a>all its\nforces against protesters, opening fire on gatherings of more than 10 people in\nsome parts of Iran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n More than 1,000 protesters were\nkilled while at least 4,000 were injured. An Iranian MP said that 7,000\nprotesters were arrested but other reports indicate that around 12,000 have\nbeen detained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Many of the people killed in these demonstrations are children, teenagers and women.
