Iran consists<\/a> of a group of senior government officials who make the most important security decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\nIn addition to military personnel, the Supreme National Security\nCouncil of Iran includes the heads of three branches of government\n(executive, legislative and judiciary. The Supreme National Security Council is presided by the\npresident of the Iranian regime. The head of the Judiciary\nand the Speaker of the Majlis (parliament) are also members of this council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Iranian regime supreme leader Ali Khamenei is the\nmain figure of the Supreme\nNational Security Council of Iran. Although he is not\nofficially a member of the council, two people represent him, one of them is\nsecretary of the Supreme\nNational Security Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The decisions of this council should never be\nagainst Khamenei\u2019s opinion, as his decisions always have priority. In the meantime, most of the members of the council, who\nare military officials, are all those who agree with Khamenei and are elected\nby him as a member of the council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The council often meets quickly for popular\ndemonstrations and decides how to deal with the demonstrations. Although they never publicly say that they held a meeting\nabout the demonstrations, but the popular demonstrations represent a security\nthreat to the regime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the November 2019 protests in Iran, the Supreme National Security\nCouncil of Iran was also the main decision-making body for suppressing\npopular demonstrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
