The Iranian state media has finally admitted to the regime\u2019s role in ruining the economy <\/a>and destroying the lives of the people over the past 42 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Monday, 17 May 2021, the Etemad daily did a piece on the skyrocketing inflation rate and price of basic goods, like oils (up 35%), bread (up 50%), and sugar (up 72%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, regarding the bread situation, the Resalat\u00a0daily noted that in Tehran, the official price of Barbari bread is 1,500 Tomans, but some bakeries have raised it to 2,000 Tomans. Despite the increased cost, people report that the quality is poor, and the bread is underweight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The paper wrote<\/a>: \u201cPeople always pay the price of skyrocketing prices. Meanwhile, the government can stop the increase in the price of bread by allocating concessions to bakeries. Rising bread prices as an important commodity in the food basket of families have always faced many reactions because it is the most important food of the people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In March, the government claimed that the prices of basic goods would stay the same, then blamed small business owners for increases, even though the state-run media admits that the regime is responsible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Jahan-e Sanad daily wrote about inflation on Monday, 17 May, saying that as the current presidency reaches its end, they\u2019ve begun increasing prices for no reason.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The paper wrote: \u201cThe trend of increasing the prices of basic goods has started in recent days. Meanwhile, according to government spokesman Ali\u00a0Rabi\u2019i, no price changes were to be made in the first quarter of this year. Using elections, the government has increased the price of [basic commodities].\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
